LESSON NAME: Understanding diversity

SUBJECT: Civics

GRADES: Grade 6

OVERVIEW

This chapter is based on the NCERT pdf,https://ncert.nic.in/ncerts/l/fess301.pdfwhere

students learn about the chapter “Understanding diversity”. The lesson also incorporates
some activities and quizzes for better understanding.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

 Understand the diversity of India.

 Identify different religions and cultures.
 Understand the concept of unity in diversity.

ACTIVITIES AND INSTRUCTIONS

 In slide 2, there is an activity to introduce the concept of diversity. The students have
to write the favourite sports of their family members.
 In slide 3, the students learn about the concept of diversity.
 In slide 4, the students are asked to locate the states on the map and mention one
food or crop that states are famous for.
 In slide 5, the students are asked to identify the religions according to the prayers.
 In the slide 6, students are asked to spin the star and mention the name of the
religion as per the symbols given.
 In slide 7, students are asked to mention the name of the correct states under the
dance forms given.
 In slide 8, more information is given on diversity in the states of India and students
have to answer the poll given.
 In slide 9, students are asked to play the game by rolling the dice and mentioning the
name of that festival. They also have to answer the given question.
 In the slide 10, students have to pin the correct reasons for describing India as “Unity
in Diversity”.
