DHASAI

According to Census 2011 information the location code or village code of


Dhasai village is 553174. Dhasai village is located in Murbad tehsil of Thane
district in Maharashtra, India. It is situated 24km away from sub-district
headquarter Murbad (tehsildar office) and 100km away from district
headquarter Thane. As per 2009 stats, Dhasai village is also a gram panchayat.

The total geographical area of village is 625 hectares. Dhasai has a total
population of 3,053 peoples, out of which male population is 1,574 while female
population is 1,479. Literacy rate of dhasai village is 74.52% out of which
80.05% males and 68.63% females are literate. There are about 679 houses
in dhasai village.

• To know the what schemes are being implemented in the
village.
• And what benefits the village is getting from those schemes.

or are being implemented in the village.

MAJOR
INITIATIVES:-
The initiative to make the
village cashless was undertaken by the Bank of Baroda in association
with an NGO Veer Savarkar Pratishthan. The NGO took the
responsibility to spread awareness and also educate them about the
various features of digital methods of transactions. The initiative has
surely been a fruitful effort with Dhasai using plastic money for all
the transactions. The bank and NGO chose Dhasai for the initiative
as nearly all the villagers had opened an account under the Jan Dhan
Yogana and thus all of them had debit cards.

On one hand, the whole country

is facing the shortage of petty change for high value currency notes
while on the other Dhasai village has become a cashless village. This
has been made possible by the efforts of Ranjeet Savarkar, executive
president of the Swatantryaveer Savarkar Pratishthan, Dadar. The
initiative was taken with the assistance of Bank of Baroda. As the
villagers have accounts in Jan Dhan Scheme, they have in their
possession the debit cards. Applications for 39 swipe machines were
made and those purchasing these machines include six vada-paav
vendors.

BENIFITS TO THE VILLAGE
• Every shop in this village has a swipe machine and
they make full of use of it, hence payment process is
get smooth.
• Every person in the village has an account in bank.
• Village children age 12 to 17 years also benefit from
debit card.
• Villagers do not have to stand inqueus outside ATM,
banks to withdraw money,thus saving time.
• Villegers get aware of new technology in payment
proces.
• Whole village become mainstream to banking system.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF
VILLAGE:-
On 1St December 2016 the village was
becoming a cashless. all payments in the village are being
done through plastic money. Traders, vegetable and fruit
vendors and others providing goods and services in Dhasai
are using swipe machines for cashless transactions.

• Dhasai village is the first cashless in the


Maharashtra.
• All the people in the village are using a debit cards.
• Dhasai is the second cashless village in the country.
