1.Pre-reading Activity Begin the lesson by asking learners if they know what
"sounding out words" means. Explain that it's a way to figure
out unknown words by saying each sound in the word.
2. During- reading a. Introduce a few basic phonics sounds (e.g., /c/, /a/, /t/).
Activity b. Practice saying the sounds together as a class.
c. Show phonics flashcards and ask learners to repeat the
sounds.
d. Show picture cards with simple words (e.g., cat, dog, hat).
e. Break down each word into its individual sounds (/c/ - /a/
- /t/) and practice saying the sounds together.
3. Post Reading a. Encourage learners to practice sounding out words at

Si Kuya at Ate"
Isang araw, naglalaro sina Kuya at Ate sa harap
ng bahay. Si Kuya ay masaya dahil siya'y nanalo
sa laro, ngunit si Ate ay medyo malungkot dahil
natalo siya. Habang nag-uusap sila, bigla silang
nagtampuhan. Si Kuya ay nagalit at si Ate ay
natatakot na mawalan ng kaibigan. Pero sa huli,
nagkaunawaan sila at nagyakapan ng mahigpit,
nagpapakita ng pagmamahal at saya sa isa't isa.
