Stops Warmup (Period iA: 2 Vi min or 30 completions)


Objective: To work on maximum reps of running our Stops play, as we get our bodies warmed up for practice. Coat: 90% completion vs Air. Quarterback Focus Bring the footballs to the drill- 3 each Take proper stance. Spread from Hash to Hash to limit throw. Lead the "All Ball" call with Pride. VS speed to 3/i speed on throw velocity. Get the next football and be responsible for minimizing downtime between repetitions. Receiver Focus Use proper stance & eliminate false steps VS to 3/4 speed warmup, focus on footwork. Catch the ball in the Noose- with Thumbs & Pinkies/Index fingers touching. Tuck the ball, and turn and burst through 2 lines (5-10 yards). Lack of Effort OR Drops equal 10 pushups Hustle back & give the QB a good simulated shotgun snap

Viper on Air (Period iB: 2 Vfr minutes or ^o completions)


Objective: To finish the warmup with Viper-specific routes; and to force WR's to work releases versus Press coverage. Goal: 90% completion vs Air Quarterback Focus Rocker-Plant-Throw if throwing to X/Y o Complete within 30 yards. o Throw it to the "bucket" and use the "window." Ride Fake-Plant-Throw if throwing Seams. Keep eyes downfield during fake. Stand next to other QB's in MOF. Rotate to right with each throw. Receiver Focus Run on landmarks, keep the "window" open. o Adjust OUT at the last second. Watch the ball all the way to the hands. o "Snap the eyes to the hands." Work release versus bump cornerbacks (coaches). Work on "re-stacking the cornerback." Lack of effort or drops equal 10 pushups. Hustle ball back & give the QB a simulated snap.

Keep the WINDOW open until the very last second.

Viper Drill (Period 2: ; minutes or 4.0 completions)


Objective: To get QB's & WR's on the same page with route-timing, and predicting when the Shutdown will happen. Goal: 80% completion
Quarterback Focus Receiver Focus

Making sure to use the correct technique. Making the correct read on the DB. Keep eyes on DB and decide to throw deep or the shutdown route. Control the tempo of the drill.

Run your route full-speed. Try to run past your deep defender. Z: Bend Seam to skinny Post if MOFO post-snap. X/Y/A: If after 10 yards, your DB is still over the top, shut your route down and look inside. Drops & mistakes equal 10 pushups. Hustle ball back & give the QB a simulated snap.

Spread Viper Left COF (Center of Field) 10 perfect catches & finishes required. Every rep is full-speed, using Viper rules. Move the ball to just left of the COF. o Next day move the ball just right of the COF. One guy in each line jumps out to play defense. o He goes full-speed one time through the line. o After 4-5 reps, he switches with someone else in his line. No one should play defense twice. o He can align anywhere between 1-10 yards. o He can do anything post-snap but must give the QB/WR a full-speed read for at least 5 yards. Receivers must go deep on their landmark. If the DB over the top of the route after passing the 10 yard mark, he can shut down his route and look inside.

Routes on Air Drill (Period ?: 10 minutes or go completions)


Objective: To get maximum repetitions with each route. Work one half of the field on Monday, the other half of the field the next. Goal: 80% completion Quarterbacks "How do I know who to throw to?" ---Throws never cross in the air. Eyes must go through any/all read progressions. Don't throw the ball if the receiver runs the wrong pattern. Lead the "All Ball" 3-clap. Receivers Work on route precision. After the catch, ail receivers must sprint through Goalline or 2-lines, whichever comes first. - Work on YAC and setting up the defender. After that, receivers must hustle the ball back and snap it to the QB. Drops and mistakes result in 10 pushups.

5 reps MAX of each play, or 15 catches per route. 30 rep max in 10 minutes. o go catches in 10 minutes (140 chances)

Some routes require Tailbacks, some don't. o o The Tailback should simulate his pass protection by using teammates to be scout defenders. Give a great run fake if the play calls for it.

An "All-Ball" is worth one-extra catch, and a great "All-Ball" clap is worth one additional catch. o Coach's discretion. Whining equals-i catch.

Break time. 5-minute rest built into practice after Routes on Air is done. o o o Time earned is yours to keep. As we get more effiecient, shave a minute or two off of Period 3. Lack of focus & mistakes often take time away from break.

Objective: To get quick about blocking for your teammates when you realize the ball is not coming to you. Setup three WR's, or two WR's with a Tailback. Work Screens, Screen Specials, and Stops versus defense.

Keep Away (Period q- q minutes)


Objective: To protect our QBfor as long as it needs to be done & to develop unit pride. Setup four cones, 18 yards wide x 10 yards deep. Five Offensive Linemen work against 3 Pass rushers. QB is down when he gets touched. Coaches keep time and try to pass pro for 6 seconds.
