What is mRNA?
The therapeutic vaccine delivers mRNA molecules as a blueprint for proteins to be produced. These proteins
stimulate an immune response, which teaches the body to identify and attack the cancer cells. So, simply the process
is as following:
For mRNA therapy to be successful the gene mutation should be analyzed, copied in a form of mRNA and injected
in cancer’s patient’s body. However, it is important to mention that the gene mutation is individual, which means
that the gene mutation differs from each patient to another. The solution for this problem would be a personalized
vaccine.
Can we be saved?
All in all, mRNA is extremely promising, but it’s not the miracle weapon that will save us all. It could be more
effective when combined with other treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and targeted therapies. Until
now, there are ongoing studies trying to research, how effective mRNA could be in the fight against different cancer
types like malignant melanoma.
