II. Guide questions:

1. Trace the pathway of food through the digestive tract.
- Mouth -> Pharynx -> Esophagus -> Stomach -> Small intestine -> Large intestine
-> Cloaca
2. List down the accessory structures and glands associated to digestion process.
What is their role in digestion?
- The first accessory organ that is involved in the digestion of food for the frog is
the liver, this organ stores the commodities that are valuable for the frog’s
condition and produce plasma protein for them as well. Another organ would be
the pancreas, this organ helps the frog digest food in the small intestine because
of the secretion of bile. Lastly, the gallbladder is the one that stores the bile that
is being produced by the liver.

3. Correlate the structural changes in each segment of the digestive tract with the
function.
- The mouth is made up of several parts, mainly the teeth, salivary glands and the
tongue, which are in charge of the initial breakdown and moisturization of the
food. The esophagus and stomach are in charge of further breakdown and
digestion of the food. After the chemical and physical breakdown of the
substance, the small and large intestines were in charge of absorbing the
nutrients and liquids of the broken down substances.

4. Relate the histological appearance of the livers and pancreas with their function.
- The liver is the largest organ of the body that is an accessory organ of the
digestive system and is responsible for not only taking the nutrients from the
intestines but also filtering and being the organ that connects the intestines and
the blood vessels that would spread it through the body. The Pancreas on the
other hand while being much smaller is still important, being in charge of the
insulin and digestive fluids of the system.
