Firstly, I would like to express heartfelt gratitude for contribution of CBTS in public

health sector and creating platform for enthusiastic social activists to enhance their
potential in the same area. The TOT on Blood Donors Motivation, has indeed increased
my level of understanding on blood donation to a great extent and has driven me for
more sustainable job in the field. As a part of social responsibility and commitment
during the session, initially I reached out different organisations however, I couldn't
proceed further due to unavoidable circumstances. Disseminating the information
regarding blood donation in social media well as open spaces and assisting the needy
individuals on blood management have been my regular deeds these days.
Being a permanent resident of the valley, I am always ready to attend physical meeting
and dedicate my time in serving the community. Upon your request I have put forward
some suggestions under the headings:

VOLUNTEER MOBILISATION
Ø
BLOOD MANAGEMENT
Ø Strengthen collaboration with concerned stakeholders for development of nationally coordinated blood
transfusion services that provide equitable access to safe and quality assured blood transfusions for the whole
population.

Ø Disseminating information about the importance of giving blood through the videos or interview with
prominent politicians, celebrities and sportsman as well as acknowledgement of blood donation success stories
and heroic blood donors on the media

Ø Inviting the public, preferably college youths to learn about blood donation and transfusion via virtual visits
of blood centres and mobilise the blood volunteers in professional level for necessary correspondence with
local bodies and other organisations

I am certain enough that public will witness a positive change through our joint effort in this
sensitive and humane issue. We all are together for the sake of humanity only and I will be
grateful to you if you will adopt the favourable course of action hereafter.

Despite of the fact that taking part in the journey for blood offers excellent wellbeing intoyones
health, many eligible individuals argue on several matters like fear of needle, pain, future
weakness, objection from the elders, apathy, medical excuses, story of wastage of collected
blood as well as its high premium, inconvenience and apprehension of post donation reactions.
For these underlying reasons along with the highly reduced frequency of donation campaigns as
a precautionary measure for catastrophe, the scarcity of blood at present and future crisis with
the further eruption of pandemic hasn’t become the genuine issue for concerned authorities or
stakeholders. Both stagnant condition and blowing situation delivers the real victims the
message of heartfelt condolence on behalf of their premature demise. Too, so-called effective
treatment for COVID-19 infection viz. Plasma therapy being practised in prosperous world will
be a story of gossips in developing cum economically fragile country like Nepal. Under these
circumstances, bodies like Central Blood Transfusion System Centre(CBTS) and its arms under
Nepal Red Cross Society(NRCS), Ministry of Health and Population(MoHP), National Bureau for
Blood Transfusion Service(NBBTS) under National Public Health Laboratory(NPHL) and public
health experts including blood volunteers are to develop a strategic plan with proper
coordination among each other and collaboration with supporting and relevant partners.
Additionally, provision for free and safe mobility of blood donors, Personal Protective
Equipment(PPE) for blood transfusion service volunteers, regular health check up of staffs and
volunteers who are working in the field, dispatch of promotion materials related to blood
donation are the areas of prime concern to be addressed therewith. The blood volunteers are
also on front line in promoting the blood donation campaigns in their peer groups and social
media as well while staying inside at this instant. The situation may be good-for-nothing, so we
should be prepared for coming days and need to create and implement some innovative
approaches to cope with the challenges of blood management like Door to Door Donation,
Blood Donors on Call etc. Basally, on long-term either the government should make free supply
of blood from hospital units or the rumours on costly fee of blood packs are to be settled in the
way that general public realises the minimal charge for compensating processing and
managerial costs before dispatch.
