WORKSHEET- 3
NUMERICALS
(Acceleration)

1. A motor car is travelling at 36 kmph. After 10 seconds, the velocity becomes 54

kmph. Assuming the velocity change took place at a uniform rate, find the
acceleration.

2. A train starting from a railway station and moving with uniform acceleration
attains a speed of 40 kmph in 10 minutes. Find its acceleration.

3. A scooter acquires a velocity of 36 kmph in 10 seconds, just after the start.

Calculate the acceleration of the scooter.

4. Car moving with a speed of 54 kmph is brought to rest within 10 seconds by

applying brakes. Find the retardation due to brakes.

5. Starting from rest, Nikita paddles her bicycle to attend a velocity of 5 m/s in 25
seconds. Then she applies brakes so that the velocity of the bicycle comes down
to 4 m/s in the next 5 seconds.Calculate the acceleration of the bicycle in both the
cases.

6. Are payable thrown vertically upwards with an initial velocity 15 metre per second
comes to a stop in 5 seconds. Find the retardation.

7. A body is moving vertically upwards its velocity changes at a constant rate from
50 metre per second to 20 metre per second in 3 seconds. What is its
acceleration? What does the negative sign indicate?

8. A car accelerates at the rate of 5 m/s 2. Find the increase in its velocity in 2
seconds.

9. A Car is moving with a velocity 20 m/s. The brakes are applied the to retard it at a
constant rate of 2 m/s2. What will be the velocity after 5 seconds of applying the
brakes?

10. A bicycle initially moving with a velocity of 5 metre per second accelerates for 5
seconds at a rate of 2 m/s2.. What will be its final velocity?
