Newton’s First Law-If the net force of an object is zero, the motion of the object does not change.

Isaac Newton was a well-known scientist and mathematician that developed the

law of universal gravitation. The two fields he studied were physics and mathematics. He

developed 3 laws of motion. These three laws of motion were Newton’s First,Second, and

Third Law.Force is a push or pull on an object.Net force is the combination of all the

forces acting on an object.Inertia is the tendency for an object to resist a change in its

motion.

1.How are contact and noncontact forces different?Contact and noncontact forces

are different since contact forces are a push or pull on one object by another that is

touching it.Noncontact forces are a force that one object that one object can apply to
another object without touching it.Contact forces are forces that will always require

physical and direct contact between two objects.Noncontact forces do not require

physical and direct contact between two objects.

2.How can we look at the net force and see that balanced forces are acting upon

an object? We can look at the net force and see that balanced forces are acting upon an object if

the force applied in one direction is equal to the force applied in the opposite direction.

3.How can we look at the net force and see that unbalanced forces are acting upon

an object. We can look at the net force and see that unbalanced forces are acting upon an object if

force applied in one direction is greater than the force that is applied in the opposite direction.

Scenario:A soccer ball is kicked inside of the goal. When the ball hits the net in the back of the

goal,it stops rolling and stays inside the goal.

Inertia is a part of this scenario because when you kick the ball,it continues

moving forward until the net stops it when it’s kicked in the back of the goal.Yes,Contact forces

are a part of this scenario. The contact force occurs when the ball is kicked forward, and the ball

and the goal net meet after the ball was kicked to the net.Yes,noncontact forces are a part of this

scenario. The noncontact force occurs when the drag opposes the movement of the ball as it goes

through the air.

Scenario:Sam applies 75 N of force to the right on a chair.Taylor applies 20N of force to the right

on the chair.
Forces that were acting on the object were 75 N and 20 N.The direction each force was

acting upon the object was the right. The net force acting on the object was 95 N.The direction

the net force was acting on the object was the right.Unbalanced forces are acting on this object.
