WHAT IS

BIOETHICS?
Often known as medical ethics or clinical ethics- refers to the study
of ethical issues arising from advances in biology and medicine,
focusing on moral principles, values, and decisions related to life
sciences, healthcare, and biotechnology.

Crucial in guiding decisions & policies
to ensure responsible & ethical
practices in areas (genetic engineering,
organ tranplantation, healthcare
delivery, & research involving human
subjects).

Provides a framework for addressing


moral dilemmas & protecting the rights
& well-being of individuals involved in

SCOPES
Medical Ethics: Involves ethical considerations within healthcare
settings, patient-doctor relationships, medical research, and
treatment protocols.

Environmental Ethics: Explores ethical concerns regarding the


impact of biotechnology on the environment, biodiversity, and

Biotechnological Ethics: Focuses on the moral implications of


developments in biotechnology, genetic engineering, cloning, and
artificial intelligence in healthcare.

Legal and Social Implications: Examines the legal and societal


repercussions of bioethical decisions and policies, influencing public
health and individual rights.
