NARRATIVE REPORT
Group 3 was assigned to take care of the
most inward area of the garden. That part of
the garden was very messy, with old recycled
plastic bottle pots cluttering the area. There
was also a papaya tree and two bougainvillea
shrubs.
In the cleaning days of the activity, the
group was solely focused on cleaning the
assigned area. With the old pots being
discarded because they weren't deemed
useful for the proposed
redesign, the soil from
the said pots was
piled into a sack
for future use.
The bougainvillea
shrubs were
removed due to
safety reasons and
were deemed unappealing.
The redesigning of the
garden was instead of
using plastic or anything
synthetic— natural
materials were to be used,
hence the title of this
portfolio. The plan was to
build a planter and
hanging pots using
bamboo chutes. The bamboos were sourced by
the leader.

Much work was done in the

first week of the activity. The
planter was finished, with the
soil from the old pots being used
in the lower layer and the upper
being a mixture of fresh compost
and coco peat to give the plants
a healthy environment to grow
on. Calamansi, Eggplant, Tomato
and Lady’s Fingers were planted
on the planter.
In the second week of the activity, the
work was more focused in adding the
hanging pots and improving the aesthetic
of the garden. The hanging pots primarily
had ornamental plants, but were replaced
by string beans. Varnish was applied on
the bamboo for a more appealing and
shiny look.
When the redesigning was finally finished,
all the group had to do was maintain the
cleanliness and state of the plants.
Regularly watering the plants to prevent
them from dying of dehydration. And
semi-weekly cleaning the area to be free
from dead leaves or potential rubbish that
would destroy the garden’s visuals.

RE S:
AMIL
Throughout this activity I have learned how
to prepare an area for the plants and learned how
to plant vegetables/fruits and witness them grow.
This activity helped me build a friendship with
my teammates and helped us learn more about
each other. I remember having a great time
buying some materials with them at the city mall
when we’re still fixing our area. In this acitivity we
learned how to choose the right soil and good
products for our plant to grow healthy and I
learned that even rain can't stop my teammates
from nurturing our garden. Overall I have learned
that having a healthy surroundings makes a
healthy environment.

RE S:
BATALON
After more than a month of being almost one
with nature, I have realized so much more. My
team and I were tasked to raise and maintain life
from scratch. Turning a decluttered, mostly
polluted area into nutrient-rich soil, able to
nourish life. Gardening was never my thing, never
saw the hype in being a “plantita”. But this
project not only made me learn how to plant
certain sprouts. And all the while that we can still
be aesthetically pleasing. Giving relaxation to the
eyes. Without this project, I would’ve never
realized the value of teamwork too. Individually
the tasks were rough in the hands, but together,
my teammates and I flourished and came out as
victors. Raising life isn’t easy but with each
helping hand, we can help each other every step
of the way.

This activity tested my ability as a group leader.
Personally, I never take up the leadership role
because I see it as very hassling and stressful, but
this activity changed my outlook. When I was
chosen as the leader of this group, I felt terrified
that I might not perform well, which brought a bit
of trauma because of 10th grade. But, further
into my journey as the leader of this group, I
realize that it was not hassling nor stressful, but
actually fun. I realized that I was actually capable,
especially with my very attentive and high-
spirited groupmates, that we were able to do this
task with ease. Overall, this garden activity was a
very
worthwhile experience
and aided in my
training as a leader.

DASOC
Being part of Group 3 in the garden redesign
project was a revealing experience for me.
Initially nervous, I didn't anticipate how deeply it
would impact me. Working collaboratively, I
discovered the power of teamwork, with each
member contributing unique abilities and ideas.
Together, we faced challenges joyfully and
passionately cleaned and redesigned the garden.
Our group leader's creativity in obtaining
materials and creating a sustainable strategy,
shifting from plastic to natural materials like
bamboo, resonated with me as a move towards
environmental balance. This experience
reinforced the importance of strength,
teamwork, and creativity in achieving shared
goals, renewing my confidence in our collective
ability to make a positive impact when united
with a common purpose.

FRIO
This activity helped me to enhance my skills in
gardening, We spent our day in clearing and
removing the grass for the start of our project
which is gardening. It was great start where we
are able to start to improve our garden . As I
started removing grass, I reflected on how
gardening helps us better understand certain
aspects of ourselves. In one area of the yard, for
instance, I discovered a bed completely
overgrown. As I pulled out the dead plants, the
outline of the bed slowly emerged until at last. it
was clearly visible. Left unmaintained, however,
there was little sight of the previous cultivation. I
realized that we was not the first person to
disapprove of the inconvenient placement.
Somebody had taken care of that holly bush
years before. But here it was again. Gardening
reminds us that much of life is maintenance.

RE S:
FRONDOZO

This activity taught me how crucial it is to have

resources. Our garden reminds me of how
important it is to have resources, especially since
everything is so expensive right now. One of
those resources is food. Also, about taking
responsibility and caring for the things that you
possess, as well as assisting others. And
collaboration necessitates working as a group
rather than as an individual.

GUILLERMO

This activity helped me to care more about the

surroundings and nature. This hands-on task
taught me how a plant really grows and how it
should be taken care of. I also learned the
importance of sustainability, especially when it
comes to the plants that we planted. It should be
monitored consistently to know if it needs more
water or if a plant dies and needs to be removed.
With all that being said, I think that my
groupmates and I did a great job in this gardening
activity and will still continue caring for the
plants.

This experience emphasized the significance of

resources, particularly in today's expensive
environment. Our garden serves as a reminder of
the importance of having resources, especially
when it comes to essentials like food. It also
highlighted the importance of taking
responsibility for and caring for what we possess,
as well as extending assistance to others.
Additionally, it underscored the value of
collaboration, emphasizing the need to work
together as a group rather than as individuals.

Being part of the Group 3 for the garden redesign
project was an eye-opening experience to me. From
the start, I was nervous to help contribute to the task
at hand but I wasn’t expecting the point to which it
would impact me personally. Working alongside with
my groups, I found the power of cooperation and
teamwork. Each of our member brought unique
abilities and ideas to the table, and together, we were
able to face the challenges of cleaning and
redesigning the garden area with enjoyment and
passion. I was inspired by the creativity and
resourcefulness of our group leader in obtaining
materials and creating a sustainable redesign
strategy. The change from plastic to natural materials
like bamboo indicated a shift towards balance with
the environment, which connected strongly with me.
This experience taught me the importance of
strength, teamwork, and creativity in attaining shared
goals, renewing my confidence in the strength of one
another and our potential to have a good difference
when we join together with a common goal in mind.

This activity taught me a lot of things. I have learned

that gardening requires patience and responsibility.
As a member of Group 3, I have been nervous and
scared about how to contribute, as I don't have a lot
of experience in gardening. I also don't know how to
differentiate between the various vegetable plants
and how to keep them alive and not weather easily.
But it is exciting to see the plants grow and how
beneficial it is to nature if they keep growing healthy.
Through this activity, it also helped me to be free
from stress and kept me happy. I saw my group mates
diligently do their parts, and how we interact with
each other helped me realize that this is not just an
ordinary experience for me but also a happy memory
that will always be remembered in my heart.

Engaging in this activity has been a rich learning
experience for me. I discovered that gardening
demands both patience and responsibility. As a
member of Group 3, my initial nervousness and
lack of gardening experience posed challenges.
Differentiating between various vegetable plants
and ensuring their well-being was unfamiliar
territory. However, witnessing the plants grow
and recognizing their positive impact on nature
was truly exciting.

This gardening venture not only taught me

valuable skills but also served as a stress-
reliever, bringing happiness to my daily life.
Observing the dedication of my group mates and
our collaborative interactions made this more
than just an ordinary experience; it became a
joyful memory etched in my heart.
