FORMAT FOR INDUSTRIAL TRAINIG REPORT
A. Formatting of the report
The formatting of the report in the main text should be as follows
Font size: 12
Font type: Times New Roman
Line spacing: 1.5
Page margin:
 Top margin: 1.0”
 Bottom margin: 0.8”
 Left margin: 1.1”
 Right margin: 1.0”
Total length of the report: Maximum 40 pages, with the main body of the report not exceeding
30 pages.
B. Contents Of Report

 Place of industrial training
 Period of industrial training e.g. April –May 2022
 University supervisor’s signature
 Cover page statement e.g. First Industrial Training Report submitted to the
department of Mechanical and Production in partial fulfilment of the
requirements for award of the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical
and Manufacturing Engineering
Preliminary pages
2 i. Approval
Both university and industry supervisors must certify that the work in the report is for
the student under their supervision
ii. Declaration
The student must declare that the report is based on is his/her own work done during the
course of the industrial training
iii. Acknowledgment
The student recognizes the different people who assisted him/her in industrial training
iv. Dedication
The student expresses gratitude/ personal feelings and sentiments to people who have
assisted him/her in educational life; the student dedicates the report work to these
people.
v. Abstract/Executive summary
This is the snap shot of the whole report; Summary of the entire document. It should
include summary of the main activities, conclusion and challenges.
vi. Table of contents
The preliminary pages should be stated first with page numbers to be in roman letters,
this is followed by the main text where the page numbers are to be as 1,2,3 etc.
vii. List of figures
The list of figures should present all the figures chronologically with their corresponding
page numbers. The figures should be as 1.1, 1.2,2.1,2.2 etc as presented in each chapter
viii. List of tables
The list of tables should present all the tables chronologically with their corresponding
page numbers. The tables should be as 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2 etc as presented in each chapter.
ix. List of acronyms and abbreviations
All acronyms and abbreviations should be presented chronologically with the
corresponding page numbers
3 Chapter one: Introduction
 Location and general description of place of training attachment ( mission, vision
and objectives/aims), safety preventive measures etc.
 Objectives of industrial training
 Organizational structure of industry
 The roles of the organization in society; the activities done by the industry
4 Chapter two: Activities/Tasks done
 Description of the activities/work carried out; the tools, equipment, methods etc.
 Procedures of doing the duties and responsibilities assigned; safety aspects and
concern for environment
 New knowledge and skills acquired from field
 Challenges experienced and how they were handled
 Relationship with other workers and supervisor
5 Chapter three: Conclusion and Recommendations
Conclusion
A brief summary of knowledge and skills gained in the course of industrial training.
Recommendations
 For improving industrial training usually derived from challenges/problems
experienced
 For improving quality of work/work output at the industry
6 References
 The books and internet materials used during training
 Guidelines and design standards used during industrial training
 APA referencing style must be used e.g. Cervone, D., & Pervin, L.A. (2017).
