F. Rationale for Lesson Design

Consider the following questions and write a paragraph that responds to these
questions in the space provided below:

1. How does the knowledge of this topic inform choices for learning design?

• What is the main idea/s and most important things to know about this topic?
• What ways of thinking and doing are important for learning this topic?
• How do these inform the design of learning tasks and sequencing of lesson
steps?

2. How do learners and their diversities inform choices for lesson design?

• How have you considered the learning support needs in this class?
• How have I ensured that all learners may participate and learn?

3. How do opportunities in this context inform choices for lesson design?

• What possibilities and constraints have I considered?

The most important thing to know about this topic is what an active and passive
voice is and how it sounds like. Learners should be able to identify them in a
sentence and construct sentence in a passive and active voice. Hence this lesson
will be designed in such a way that it will start with making the definition of active
and passive voice clear from the introduction. Moreover, the conclusion and the
assessment will make learners practically and actively practice active and passive
voice sentences. The classroom is very diverse with learners from different
backgrounds with different learning abilities, there is learners who do not have
English as their home language or communicative language, so this lesson might
not even make sense to them. With this said to accommodate there has to be a lot
of examples to clarify the content and to make sure that very learner understands
the topic.

G. Teaching and learning strategies

Select the teaching strategies you will Justify your choice/s of teaching strategy/s
employ that are suitable for each below by explaining the strategy (with
phase of your lesson, for your content references) and how this strategy will be
and context. used in this specific lesson plan.
Note: You can select more than one
strategy for each phase. Delete if
more than one strategy is not
required in each phase.
Introduction: Learner centered approach is a teaching
learner method that focuses on the student’s role
centered in the learning process. In this approach
approach learners develop a skill of researching, co-
relating and reflecting on information
through independent exploration and
engagement of the content (Splash learn,
2023). During the introduction of the
lesson, learners will be given an
opportunity to explore what they know and
share ideas so the teacher can know
where to start with teaching the content.

Conclusion: Formative assessments take place during

formative the teaching process to improve and
assessment monitor how students learn (Splash learn,
2023). This lesson will be concluded in
such a way that it becomes an
opportunity for the teacher to explore
learner’s knowledge of the content that
they have just been taught by asking them
questions that relates to the content. In
simple terms an assessment will be done
orally to conclude the lesson before it can
be done in formally as an activity.

(Answer the following questions after each lesson)

What was my most challenging moment in this lesson and why? How will I
respond next time?
The introduction of the lesson was a bit challenging, learners did not have any
idea what active and passive voice is, however it did not stop them from sharing
what was in their mind which got out of control at some point.
To what extent were the learners productively engaged in the learning process?
Discuss.
Sharing their opinions and trying to connect and trying to understand the content
of the lesson
If I had the opportunity to teach this lesson again to this same group of learners,
what would I do differently? Why?
I would re-do the introduction of the lesson and try to find an introductory activity
that is mostly suitable for learners that have never heard of this topic before.
What evidence/ feedback do I have that the learners achieved an understanding
of the lesson objective(s)?
 They were able to answer al the questions that I asked them in the closure
phase
 They were all participating with enthusiasm, almost all learners had their
hands up when I asked them questions.
 They all passed the assessment.
Any additional reflections?
