From 1920 to 1935, the birth rates of China and the USA rose from around 10% to
15% and around 13%, respectively. There was a sharp decline in the proportions of
birth in China and the USA to approximately 5% in 1945. In 1950, the figure for
China reached a peak, accounting for 20%, more than 5% higher than that of the
United States.

From 1955 to 1970, the birth rates of the USA witnessed a decrease to 10%, which
was approximately 2 times as high as that of China. From 1980 to 1990, the figure for
China witnessed an increase to around 3% whereas that of the USA experienced a
decrease, accounting for around 8%. The ratio of birth in China and the USA stayed
unchanged from 1985 to 2000, specifically around 3% and 8%, respectively.
