The history of KVX dates back to the foundation of

Kverneland Group by Ole Gabriel Kverneland who
built his small forge in the village of Kvernaland
in 1879. He named his business "O.G. Kvernelands
Fabrik" and started to manufacture scythes.
Today KVX is Norway's leading manufacturer of G.E.T (ground engaging

tools) and a growing international player serving the construction,
quarry and mining industries, while also offering products for a range
of other severe industrial applications.
KVX has gained worldwide recognition for its highly wear resistant
bolt-on ground engaging tool system for earth moving machines.
Before Ole Gabriel Kverneland built his first
forge in 1879.
In recent years, KVX has also developed a highly attractive range

of buckets and attachment products for excavators, wheel loaders
and front shovel machines, primarily indented for our international
customers.
KVX is part of Komatsu; the world's second largest manufacturer of

earth moving equipment. KVX headquarters are based in Kverneland,
30 km south of Stavanger, Norway.

KVX AGGREGATE &

CRUSHING APPLICATIONS
The KVX bolt-on system offers excellent physical retention which significantly
reduces the chance of tooth loss when loading crushers.
Due to our high-tension bolt-on concept, we greatly reduce issues with broken
parts ending up in crushers. The risk of damaging adapters due to digging with
no tips is also all but eliminated. KVX G.E.T. items are generally manufactured
made from forged profiles, rolled sheets or rolled bars. The kneading process
involved in all of these processes enhances the strength of the resultant parts.
They have excellent physical retention, meaning they stay on the bucket.
KVX FOR LIMESTONE

KVX provides specially heat treated serrated cutting edges and tooth systems
which are customized for handling limestone.
Materials like limestone tend to create surface cracks caused by friction
martensite. KVX heat treatment of parts for conditions like Limestone reduces
the risk of development of hydrogen cracks. Over 130 years of experience in
steel hardening has taught us the lessons… and how to cope with them.

KVX FOR UNDERGROUND

KVX has decades of experience with underground systems and
has supported mining operations all over the world.
The well-proven bolt-on solution started in the eighties in Scandinavian
underground mines and has gained high acceptance and popularity.
The system provides a welding-free GET solution where change of replaceable
wear segments can be potentially be performed down in the mine:
less downtime, more production and no need of welding skills.

KVX FOR TUNNELING

KVX has developed a complete new system with wearplates for Tunneling
with superior strength and lifetime.
The new system is developed especially for Komatsu WA470, WA500,
WA600, Cat 972, 980, 988 and Volvo 250G/350G. The system contains
50mm wearplates made of KVX Sagitta steel and M60 bolts.
In addition to this, the corner plates are reinforced with 3 bolts in
a triangular configuration for a maximum strength. Due to the design changes,
the lifetime is extended as the wearplates can be made both longer and wider.
The extra wide corner plates also provide good protection for the side edges
of the bucket. This makes the KVX system superior to corresponding plow
bolt systems.

KVX G.E.T. used in demolition is manufactured from 500-600 Brinell Rolled
& Forged Sagitta steel, ensuring hardness, high tensile strength and also
unrivalled toughness – all qualities suited to demolition and recycling
applications. The use of an extremely durable tooth retention system and
elimination of required adapters provide numerous benefits to these industries.

The KVX system has great advantages in dredging. The primary advantage is a
tooth system which doesn’t loosen and fail in water operations.
The KVX system features a loaded retention system preventing the movement
of GET items during operation. The traditional KVX system avoids losing
pins and breakages of welded adapters. The bolt-on teeth are fixed, with no
risk of the ingress of water and fines between moving surfaces, leading to
the common problems detailed above. The robust system design, with large
individual GET components and retaining bolts can handle heavy impact,
which is another great advantage in water, where the digging is often taking
place in conditions which aren’t visible to the operator.

With the KVX system’s GET design, individual components tend to be larger
and more thermally stable than conventional GET, and the GET components
can dissipate heat into the lip and bucket more effectively due to the tight
face-to-face contact surfaces. As slag temperatures increase, the requirement
to regularly cool the GET, lip and bucket increases.
KVX FOR FROZEN GROUND

In cold winter time, elimination of welding and excellent penetration are
important benefits offered by KVX products.
In cold winter time, welding and repair of G.E.T. systems are more difficult,
tooth breakage can happen more often (steel becomes more brittle) and the
operating the machines is harder due to difficult penetration of frozen ground.
The benefits of KVX’s product offerings are : no adapter or GET welding
– extremely important in the cold winter season, excellent penetration
possible with slim profile and tiger/ripper style KVX teeth and reduced fuel
consumption, due to above.

The KVX solution is recommended for rental
business because it ensures a long lifetime between
rental business maintenance, and unsurpassed reliability, hence

significantly improved maintenance planning.
Thanks to a special hardening technology, unique metallurgy and forming processes the KVX system is both very strong and very
reliable. The lips return to original shape after bending and the buckets suffer less damages. The forged teeth are bolted securely
beneath the lip. They are far less likely to loosen and fall of and they last an extremely long time compared to typical cast teeth.
They also protect the underside of the lip and bucket, reducing bucket maintenance. Rental companies can therefore avoid having
their customers starting to cut or repair GET and buckets while on hire, as often seen with conventional GET/bucket solutions in rental
applications.
Rental machines on long rental agreements or far away from “base” will benefit
from being equipped with the KVX GET system for numerous other reasons:
• Smaller number of individual parts required in stock. No GET welding requirements.
• Same teeth and system on a wider range machines (more commonality)
• KVX system can cover the full fleet on Excavators and Wheel loaders
• Bolts are generally re-useable on excavator systems
• Mechanically locked bolt-on teeth
• Teeth can be changed/turned at the worksite
(using spanner stand or similar on excavator systems)
• Long lifetime means better planned maintenance!

1-BOLT TEETH SYSTEM

The 1-bolt system is both easier to mount
and turn, but also an even stronger system.
One bolt is all it takes. This newly devel-
oped system uses just one bolt to fit to the
cutting edge, and fits all brands. Simply
place the teeth on the four dowels in the
cutting edge and insert the bolt. The 1-bolt
system ranges
from 25 to
370 tons.
RIPPER SYSTEM
KVX delivers ripper teeth, ripper plates and
complete rippers for rock, concrete, hot
and cold slag, etc. Ripper breaks up hard
soil and ice during ground
preparation. It is perfectly
suited for pipeline and
trenching work. Ripper
are available for
excavators from
20 to 170 tons.

*) The M68 LIGHT system is only available for the E2® tooth system.
There is a need for a size in between the M60 and M68 native sizes due
to increasing breakout forces on the machine models combined with
tough digging conditions. Based on this, KVX have developed a stronger
adapter for the upper part of the M60 machine class (49-59 ton). This
new adapter use the M68 bolt, however the tooth tip is for M60 tooth.
The cutting edge thickness follow the native M68 system (70mm).

Buckets models
Depending on the digging conditions and the abrasiveness of the application, you can choose
between our three models of buckets: Heavy Duty, Extra Heavy Duty and Extreme buckets.
We can also customize your bucket according to your individual needs and the application features.
HD – Heavy Duty
Heavy Duty buckets are made for non-abrasive conditions. In
order to keep the bucket light, the wear protection is minimal
(less wear bars and no wear plates on excavator buckets).
Digging in soil or working in limestone quarry are typical
applications for our HD buckets.
XHD – Extra Heavy Duty

The Extra Heavy Duty bucket is based on the HD model and
extra wear material is added. It is suited to a broad range of
applications. It will work effectively in both very tough and
abrasive conditions such as demolition, hard and abrasive rock.
E – Extreme
The KVX Extreme model is the ultimate tool for extreme
applications where high abrasion is a very important factor.
The structure and the wear protection are strongly reinforced.
The wear bars and wear plates are thicker and additional
chocky bars, wear buttons and heel shrouds ensure a maximum
protection of the sides. Underground buckets are designed with
an optimal fixing for corner wear plates.

Front protectors
Front Protector system

The KVX Front Protector System is a simple, cost
efficient and completely weld-free solution in high
abrasion / high wear areas where the protection of
the Cutting Edge is crucial.
The Front Protector Lists are wedged in between the Base Edge
and the other bolt-on GET Components (Teeth and/or Wear Plates)
without any welding needed. A special Cutting Edge configuration
is required, which incorporates a machined keyway where the Front
List Protector wedges in. Unique and excellent Base Edge protec-
tion both for Excavator and Wheel Loader Buckets.
The KVX Front Protector is manufactured from Sagitta 540 Brinell
grade steel. A complex blend of alloying elements, and advanced
hardening technology, provide uniform hardness and toughness
throughout, resulting in excellent wear resistance, and the ability
to withstand severe impact conditions without the risk of cracking.

Heel Shrouds
KVX Heel shrouds are designed to protect high wear
areas, such as the corner edges on excavator, loader,
face shovel and LHD scoop tram buckets.
