Present Continuous Tense/Present Progressive

Tense:

•Is- Singular (He/She/It/Any Name)


•Am- I
•Are- Plural (We/They/You)

Where to use Present Continuous Tense:

To denote an action that is ongoing or occurring in


that current moment. It is also referred to as the
present progressive tense as they represent the action
that is progressing in the present

•Affirmative Sentences:

Subject – is/am/are – V1+ing – object.

She is writing an article.


I am writing an article.p
We are writing an article.

•Negative:

Subject - is/am/are - not - V1+ing - Object.

She is not writing an article.


I am not writing an article.
We are not writing an article.

•Interrogative:

Open-ended questions

Wh-word – is/am/are – sub – V1+ing – obj?

What is she writing in her notebook?


Where am I writing my article?
When are we writing the assigned article?

Closed-ended questions

Is/Am/Are – sub – V1+ing – obj?

Is she writing in her notebook?


Am I writing my article?
Are we writing the assigned article?
