Introduction

Trend

As said of Denham (2017) Moral psychology has largely been concerned with the influence
of emotional and intuitive responses on moral judgment. However, there is also some research on
the relationship between various emotions and moral action.

Morality affects a person's actions, including what is good and wrong, as well as how students
acquire ethics and develop their critical thinking abilities.

Issue

According to Dr. Andrew Baker, Foundations of Academic Success: Words of Wisdom

(2015) The academic setting demands more of us in terms of critical thinking than everyday life.
It demands that we evaluate information and analyze myriad issues. It is the environment where
our critical thinking skills can be the difference between success and failure.

Objective
Impact of ethics and philosophy education on moral judgment and critical thinking. This
is the foundation upon which the students stand, and upon which their response in the recitation
typically rests due to the impact of philosophy on their minds and the ways in which they will
use it in their everyday lives, such as engaging in conversations with one another and hearing the
perspectives of others. As a result, students learn to think critically about how and why they got
into this predicament. Therefore, the goal of this study is to identify and assess the students who
possess this perspective, as well as the impact it has on their day-to-day activities and peer
relationships.

Contribution
The study conducted by Meyer et al. (2023) said that the fostering of reasoning skills can
contribute to the aim of moral education and by means of philosophy and ethics, it can provide
powerful resources for navigating both the more difficult fundamental questions and problems
we face, and subsequently for those decisions we make in our regular activities, interactions, and
relationships, which may lead the students to critically reflect on their moral reasoning.

In this study, the researchers goal is to analyze if philosophy and ethics education has a
significant impact on moral and critical reasoning of Humanities students. The result of the study
can directly contribute to the body of knowledge on the promotion of cognitive abilities which
are needed in acquisition of knowledge, manipulation of information, and reasoning.
