Instructional Video Design, Level 2
“Clean Cut”

IDENTIFY CONCERNS
We are concerned that others are buying and using plastic and wood cutting boards
without knowing the advantages and disadvantages of their usages. Additionally, we are
concerned that cutting boards are not being cleaned and sanitized properly.

SET A GOAL
Our goal is to demonstrate to others the amount of germs living on wood and plastic
cutting boards. We will also demonstrate the proper way to clean cutting boards.

FORM A PLAN
WHO – We, Aiden Overby and Lizzy Schoenfelder, will create a video demonstrate for our
FCCLA STAR Event.

WHAT - We will conduct experiments to help show the amount of bacteria on a plastic
cutting board compared to a wooden cutting board. Then we will research ways on how
to properly clean and sanitize each cutting board.

WHEN - We will start researching and planning our video in the Fall of 2023. We will shoot
our video our video in January 2024 and submit our video by February 1, 2024.

WHERE - Our project will be completed in the Parkston FACS room.

WHY - We will inform people by creating an instructional video where we will show the
results of our experiments and how to clean the cutting boards.
HOW - We will brainstorm project ideas and discuss with our adviser. After choosing our
topic, we will write our script and start gathering the supplies needed for our video. We
will do a short test run to ensure we have everything we need. Next, we will talk to our
school’s media team to see if they will help with shooting our instructional video. Finally,
we will shoot the video and submit it through youtube links. We will create a works cited
document as well as the credits page.

ACT
We researched different ideas for an instructional video. Then we decided on a way to
show how the bacteria transfers from the produce to the different types of cutting
boards. We went to countless websites to research our topic. We talked to our media
teacher and set the dates we wanted to record our video. We each practiced our scripts
and prepared the supplies we needed. Next, we recorded our video and finished it through
editing. Lastly, we submitted the video with the help of our FCCLA adviser.

FOLLOW UP
We feel that our project went well. We feel that if we would have started this project a little
earlier, we could have had more time to plan our speech a little more and would have had
more time to edit the video. We loved our topic and felt like it was quite unique and
something that hasn’t been done before.
