I.RATIONALE

As George R. R. Martin said,” A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, the
man who never reads lives only ones”. In line with the K –12 program and the goal
of making every child a reader, Amado T. Elementary School conducted the
Project SPARK (Strengthening the Phonemic Awareness and Reading for
Kindergarten). This is designed to be a program for pupils ’remediation. The
program is designed to provide the learners the reading and writing opportunities,
especially those who were marked as significantly delayed or slight delayed level as
shown in the result of the first ECCD assessment conducted in Kindergarten. The
pupils identified as the beneficiaries of the program are expected to attend the
remedial class conducted by the class adviser through home visitation or through
the designated areas agreed during the orientation where the remedial will
be conducted. It is the goal of the project to encourage the learners to become
readers so they can feel the pleasure of reading, develop enthusiasm in reading and
an excellent way of forestalling reading loss to those learners whose memory
has not yet been fully develop. Due to pandemic, parents/guardians full support
plays an important role in this program. They will help the learners internalize their
learnings at home. The collaborative work of the teachers and the parents will be a
key factor for this project to be implemented successfully.

II. Objectives:

At the end of the project program the pupils are:

1. To identify the sounds and the letters of the alphabet.


2. To write letters.
3. To read simple words.
4. To enhance good study habits among children.

Remedial Instruction is needed to help those who identified to have low


performance in all Domain.

NOVEMBER 2022

The teacher conducted an Early Remedial Instruction during enhancement time to


the slow reader. There were two (2) pupils with a slight delay and fourteen (14)
pupils with significant delay who undergone the Remedial Class. The remaining
number of pupils is still in need of fast-tracking remedial instruction for the
following days.
