1444 is born in the Bética, where the Guadalquivir River travels its
long way through Andalusia, Antonio Martínez de Cala and
Xarana.
 Elio Antonio de Nebrija original Andalusian grammarian pedagogue
and innovative linguist and polygraph would end up fulfilling his
personal desires to transcend time, bequeathing us the first grammar of
a Romance language as well as a neat scientific creation that places
him as one of the most fruitful authors of fifteenth-century Europe, there
has been knowledge and perhaps adventures traveled to Italy in full
and effervescence of Renaissance spirit.
He entered the college of San Clemente in Bologna
and embraced the humanism of Petrarch to bring
Spain closer to the classical authors learned: Latin,
Greek, Hebrew, arts and sciences, human, theology,
law and medicine.
 He returned to Spain 10 years later becoming the first
Spanish humanist in the style of Giovanni Boccaccio or
Francesco Petrarca occupied several chairs at the
university of the learned Salamanca and Alcalá had to deal
with the inquisition due to certain problems caused by his
participation in the Complutense polyglot Bible, and served
the court in its idea of establishing a linguistic policy at the
service of the overseas empire, under the protection of
Juan de Zúñiga and 15 days before the departure of
Columbus from the Port of Palos on the banks of Huelva,
Nebrija delivered his first grammar to the Salamanca
printing press.
 He had created the work to eliminate from our language a source of
inspiration for the grammatical studies of Spanish and an undoubted
starting point for the Italian, French or Portuguese grammars that would
illuminate decades later.
2022, the fifth centenary of Lebrija's death, the city that cradled his
first letters will celebrate the enormous contribution of the humanist
to the language that today we share more than 570 million Spanish
speakers around the world.

of Nebrija, publications ... A current look
at the transcendence and dimension of
the author of the first Castilian
grammar.
