4. The 2G cellular system GSM 900 operates its 120 forward channels in the uplink
frequency band 890.2–915 MHz and 120 reverse channels in the downlink frequency band 935.2–960
MHz. Each channel has a bandwidth of 200 kHz.

i) What is the bandwidth in the forward channels (uplink frequency band) and
reverse channels (downlink frequency band)?
ii) If each channel is subdivided into 16 time slots, what is the sub channel spacing? If each channel
is shared by 16 users then compute the total number of users per cell?

5. What is Uplink and Downlink Frequency? Why uplink and downlink frequency of a satellite are kept
different?
6. What is a communication satellite? Why do we need satellite for communication? Mention the main
