II. Session Outline
Session Title: “Raising Responsible and Resilient Children: An Effective
Parenting”
Session At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
Objectives: a) Identify the factors that contribute to responsible and resilient
behavior in children.
b) Foster a sense of love, trust, and connection with children.
c) Apply positive discipline strategies to promote responsible
behavior in children.
Key Concepts:  Understanding the factors that contribute to responsible and
resilient behavior in children such as positive role models, a
supportive environment, clear expectations and boundaries,
effective communication, and problem-solving skills is essential
for responsible parenting.
 Building a strong foundation of love, trust, and connection with
your children is crucial for responsible parenting. Key aspects
include: Unconditional Love, Active Listening, Quality Time,
Empathy and Understanding.
 Clear and consistent expectations, logical consequences,
positive reinforcement, open communication are positive
discipline strategies that are crucial for promoting responsible
behavior in children.
III. Teaching Strategies
Components Duration Activities and Procedures
Introduction and 10 mins Activity: Responsibility Relay
Warm-Up Materials: Card or a piece of paper
1. Divide the students into 4 or 5 teams.
2. Set up a relay racecourse with designated stations for
each team.
3. At each station, place a card or a piece of paper with a
specific responsibility written on it, such as "Setting
boundaries," "Teaching values," "Providing emotional
support," "Promoting independence," "Encouraging open
communication," and so on.
4. The first participant from each team will start at the
starting line and run to the first station to pick up the
responsibility card.
5. They will then run back to their team and pass the
responsibility card to the next participant in line.
6. The relay continues until all students have completed
their turn and reached the finish line.
7. Once all teams have finished, gather everyone together
for a group discussion.
8. Facilitate a discussion about the responsibilities
written on the cards. Ask students to share their
thoughts on the importance of each responsibility in
effective parenting and how they relate to them.

9. Encourage students to share personal experiences or


insights related to the responsibilities discussed.
Activity: Building a Responsible and Resilient Behavior
Toolbox
Materials: Paper/meta cards, writing materials.

1. Start by discussing with the students the factors that


contribute to responsible and resilient behavior in
children. Talk about positive role models, a supportive
environment, clear expectations and boundaries, effective
communication, and problem-solving skills. Encourage
students to share their own experiences and insights as
children.
2. Divide the students into small groups or pairs.
3. Give each group or pair a set of paper or index cards.
4. Instruct the students to ponder and write down

strategy or action should align with one of the key
aspects: Unconditional Love, Active Listening, Quality
Time, Empathy and Understanding, Clear and Consistent
Expectations, Logical Consequences, Positive

5. After a few minutes, have each group or pair share
their ideas with the rest of the students. Encourage
discussion and clarification of the strategies or actions
proposed.
6. As a group, compile all the strategies or actions on a
board or flip ponder. Discuss the importance of each
strategy or action and how it contributes to responsible
and resilient behavior in children.
Valuing 20 mins Activity: Building Responsible and Resilient Behavior
Materials: Paper or index cards and writing materials
1. Begin by explaining to the students the importance of
responsible and resilient behavior in children, as well as
the factors that contribute to it. Discuss positive role
models, a supportive environment, clear expectations and
boundaries, effective communication, problem-solving
skills, love, trust, and connection.
2. Divide the students into small groups or pairs.
3. Give each group or pair a set of paper or index cards.
4. Instruct the students to ponder and write down
different factors that contribute to responsible and
resilient behavior in children. Each factor should align
with one of the key aspects mentioned earlier: positive
role models, a supportive environment, clear expectations
and boundaries, effective communication, problem-
solving skills, love, trust, and connection.
5. After a few minutes, have each group or pair share
their factors with the rest of the students. Encourage
discussion and explanation of why they chose those
factors.
6. As a group, compile all the factors on a board or flip

ponder. Discuss the importance of each factor and how it


relates to responsible and resilient behavior in children.
Activity: Building Responsible and Resilient Behavior
Materials: Journal notebook and writing materials

1. As a continuation of the valuing activity, ask each


participant to choose one factor that resonates with them
the most. Instruct them to write a short reflection or
personal story about how they have witnessed or

a child. Encourage them to reflect on the positive impact
of that factor on responsible behavior.
2. After a few minutes, invite students to share their
reflections or stories with the rest of the group. Create a
safe and supportive environment for sharing, allowing for
discussion and feedback.
