Terry Fox Run on World Cancer Day

HSNC University, Mumbai is actively participating in the Terry Fox Run event scheduled for Sunday,
February 4, 2024, coinciding with World Cancer Day. Principals of the Constituent Colleges, Deans, Directors,
Heads of the Schools/Departments, and Coordinators of HSNC University, Mumbai, are hereby requested to
encourage students to participate in the Terry Fox Run, aimed at fostering awareness and support for cancer
research.

HSNC University, Mumbai, takes pride in being a part of the Terry Fox Run, widely known as the "Marathon
of Hope." Terry's enduring spirit, determination, and compassion for others continue to inspire millions of
people, contributing to the legacy of the Terry Fox Run.

 About Terry Fox Run

The Terry Fox Run, fostering awareness and support for Cancer Research, Terry Fox was diagnosed with
Osteogenic Sarcoma ( bone Cancer) and had his right leg amputated at the age of 18 Sensitive to the suffering
of other Cancer patients, especially children, Terry decided to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research,
through a Run he did across Canada and thus began a journey called the "Marathon of Hope” Terry's spirit,
determination and compassion for others still moves Millions of people and because we have been touched,
we continue his dream- the dream that one day a cure for Cancer will be found. Terry died shortly leaving this
legacy behind, commonly known as the Terry Fox Run.

In Mumbai the Research is Conducted at Tata Memorial Hospital, Terry Fox Committee has supported the Tata
Memorial Hospital for the last 22 years by collecting funds for research and also by bringing awareness to
Mumbaikars about Cancer among children

As Dr. Shripad Banavali of the Tata Memorials (Paediatric Ward) Hospital said:

22 years ago, only 2 out of 10 children used to go back home Today 22 year later 8 children out of 10 go back
home with the advance in research a made by Tata Memorial Hospital through monies donated by Terry Fox
Run.

It is our dream that in the year 2025, all 10 children suffering from cancer will go back home completely cured.

The event holds particular significance as we anticipate the enthusiastic participation of 8,000 to 10,000
students from various schools including our esteemed colleagues

The Terry Fox Run is scheduled on 4 February 2024, which coincides with- World Cancer Day.
