Ang Huling El Bimbo is a story of friendship

told through the songs of the most iconic Pinoy rock
band from the 90’s. It is an original story that should
resonate with people who understand how the
powerful bond between friends shapes our lives. It
will also be a nostalgic journey, driven by songs that
have become part of the collective Pinoy psyche.

BURNAY MAKING
ILOCOS SUR, REGION
I
As Vigan is known for its historic ancestral
houses that illustrate a fusion of architecture from
Spanish colonial time with Asian influences, the
people of Vigan also exert great effort to preserve the
tradition of making “burnay”. Burnay is unglazed
earthen jars, an industry that dates back to pre-colonial
times when immigrants from China came and settled
in Vigan. Burnay jars have small openings, and its
earlier use were for tea drinking, storage for water,
rice grains and as container for salt, brown sugar, local
wine (basi) and bagoong (fermented fish).

Ilocos Region
Abel is Ilocano for “weave,”
(Region I)
and inabel literally means “woven.”
You can interpret inabel as
pertaining to any kind of woven
fabric, but it is mostly used to refer
Photo by Travel Trilogy to that distinctly Ilocano textile of
plain or patterned woven cotton
made in hardwood looms using
techniques passed down through
generations. It may at first be
considered in the same category as
other indigenous Filipino cloths, but
unlike sinamay, abaca, and piña, abel
is unique in the way that it is used
liberally in everyday household
items, and not merely as special
Filipiniana attire for cultural dances
or official meetings with the
President. It is possible that you may
have already encountered and used
abel—in the form of a blanket, a
placemat, or a tea towel—and hadn’t
noticed it at all.

CALABARZON TAAL BASILICA

(Region IV-A)
It takes pride as the oldest church in
Asia; it started construction beginning
1575—3 years after the founding of
MIMAROPA
Most famous for their marble
(Region IV-B)
sculptures, Romblon is steadily
becoming one of the favorite
provinces that tourists, be it local or
international, choose to go. They owe
their marble-making industry to
1950’s Italians and up until now it
has made their province unique.

Western Visayas
(Region VI) Western Visayas is
abundant with indigenous
materials and a known tourist
destination, making it an ideal
place for hand and crafts
businesses. The province is a
known producer of abaca, a type
Photo by western visayas of leaf fiber, that is often used to
produce cloth, bags, wall decors,
and other hand-crafted products. In
addition, Kalibo is a prime
producer of piña cloth, a soft type
of fiber cloth made out of
pineapple plant. This cloth is also
used for barongs.

Central Visayas
(Region VII) The guitar-making industry
in Lapu-Lapu City started when the
Spanish friars assigned in Cebu
needed to repair the guitars they
were using. Instead of waiting for
the guitars to arrive from Mexico,
they commissioned the townspeople
Photo by Veltra of Opon village in Mactan Island to
make new guitars and repair the
existing guitars they had; thus began
the guitar industry in Cebu.
Eastern Visayas
(Region VIII) The San Juanico Bridge
connecting the provinces of Samar
and Leyte is one of the monumental
projects under Former President
Ferdinand Marcos’ administration. It
is known to be the longest bridge in
the Philippines spanning a body of

Zamboanga
Peninsula One of the many
(Region IX) indigenous people around
Zamboanga City is known as the
Yakan. They are a thriving people
who are adapting their old ways
with the new. Even amongst the
local residents of Zamboanga City

who are particularly renowned for
their colorful vintas, the Yakans are
exquisitely known because of the
vibrancy of color in their cloth and
exceptional weaving techniques of
their people.

Each pattern of the garment

woven by the Yakans is as unique
as a snowflake and each one being
infused with that of the weaver’s
character and pride in their work.
The patterns on the garment also
reflects that of the time period it
was woven in, a testament to the
adaptability of Yakan weavers.

Northern Mindanao
There are more than 40
(Region X) different ethnic groups in the
Philippines.
Each group has a distinct culture
and language. Several of these
ethnic groups can be distinguished
as "tribal groups".

Davao Region
