PATH BLAZER

(Robo Race)

Task
The primary objective of the “Pathblazer” (Roborace) is
that participating teams have to
create a bot that navigates obstacles on the track and
reaches the endpoint.

Bot Specifications
• The dimensions of the bot must not exceed
300 mm x 300 mm x 200 mm (I x b x h).
• Bot must be controlled manually.
• The Machine cannot be constructed using ready-made
‘Lego kits’ or any ready-made mechanism. But they
can make use of readymade gear assemblies.
• Failing to meet any of the above specifications will lead
to disqualification of the team.

Arena
• The width of the path is 400mm.
• There are five checkpoints in the arena
A, B, C, D, and E.
• From the START mark to checkpoint A there
are 2 obstacles.

• In between checkpoints A and B, B and C, C and D, and
D and E there are 2 obstacles placed.
• From checkpoint E to the END mark there's one obstacle.
• The bot needs to navigate these obstacles and finally
reach the endpoint.
• The arena contains two surprise obstacles.
• The details of surprise obstacles are published on the
day of the event, and participants refrain from
commenting on them.

L Rules
• Only two members of the team are allowed to handle
and operate the bot.
• The bot should not damage the arena.
• In case of arena damage team will be immediately
disqualified.
• The bot should not break or split into two or more
parts during the run. In such a case the team will be
disqualified immediately.
• The bot would be checked for safety before starting
and disqualified if found unsafe for other players.
• The bots will be given five minutes to prepare their bots
for the race.
• If a participant team fails to start the bot after 5 minutes
the team will be disqualified.
• No one can comment on the referee's decision.

Gameplay
• The race begins with the teams launching their bot
from a START mark.
• Checkpoints are strategically placed throughout the
course.
• The bot must navigate between checkpoints without
damaging the obstacles.
• The width of the zig-zag track is 300 mm.
• The width of the bridge is 400 mm.
• The moving disk is placed at 160 mm
height from the ground.
• The pit box is placed at 280 mm height from the ground.
• The bridge is placed at 250 mm height from the ground.
• The moving disks have a 600 mm diameter.
• The gate continuously opens and closes at 90 degrees.
• If in case the team is unable to cross the obstacle then
the team can choose to skip the obstacle.
• If an obstacle is skipped then the points will be
deducted.
• If the bot goes out of the track then start it from the
previous checkpoint.
• During the game if any of the team members touch
the bot without the approval of the organizer then
the bot has to start from the previous checkpoint.
• During the game bot has to cover all checkpoints and
finally reach the final endpoint then only the race
will be completed.

General Rules
• Team members will not be allowed to step into the
arena.
• Only organizers are allowed in any situation.
• The team will be disqualified if any of the team
members step into the arena without the approval of
the presiding organizers.
• Participants cannot keep anything inside the arena
besides their robots.
• Electronic devices are not allowed near the arena.
• The bot must not damage the arena.
• Each team will get only one attempt.

Team Specifications
• A team may consist of 2 to a maximum of 4 members.

Penalties
• In case of hand touches 5 points will be
deducted.
• If the bot willingly skips any checkpoint
10 extra points will be deducted.

Scoring System
• For completing each checkpoint 30 points will
be awarded.
• In case of tie in score then the minimum time
taken by the bot to reach the endpoint will be
the winner.
• If in any case tie in the score and of timing the
winner will be determined based on the
minimum number of hand touches.
• The score given by organizers is final and the
team has no rights to comment on it.

Note
• The dimensions of the arena will be accurate to
within 5% or 20 mm, whichever is less or more.
• ± 5 % error in bot dimension is allowed.
• In case of any disputes, the organizer's decision
will be final and binding.
• The organizers reserve the right to change any
of the above rules as they deem fit.
• Changes in rules, if any, will be highlighted on
the website and notified to the registered teams.
