Industrial Ethernet Card CP1613
– Use for the data exchange with
OPC functionality to the automation devices
e.g. SIMATIC
– OPC Server software package included
– Example
A Simatic S7-400 is connected to a SICAM PAS Station Unit through a CP1613
and via the Ethernet. The communication used between the S7-400 and the
CP1613 is the S7 protocol. An OPC server for the CP1613 card is available
from SIMATIC. In this way data can be exchanged with the SICAM PAS OPC
Client. Ethernet, S7-Protocol

SIEMENS IPC has a built in watchdog
Lower reliability of Windows based SICAM PAS can run under Windows XP

The Configuration Tool has always to be installed to be able to do the settings on the
hub.
The firmware is usually not necessary, as it should be already installed on the hub by
the factory.

What is OPC ?
OPC
• stands for OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) for Process Control
• is the automation industry‘s version of OLE
• provides an open, flexible, plug-and-play software standard for software
interoperability in the automation industry
• specific to the automation industry and its' unique needs for data
communication (alarming, historical data access and trending, batch and
more)

What is OPC ?
OPC
• is based on OLE, COM (component object model) and DCOM
(distributed component object model) technologies
• consists of a standard set of interfaces, properties and methods
for use in process- control and manufacturing automation
application

Why OPC ?
• Openness
– System-wide operation between automation products of different
manufacturers
– Data are only acquired once from field level right up to operational control
level
– Access to MS-Office under Windows
• Ease of Use
– Same user interface for different components
• Performance
– C++ interface
– Efficient data access through volume operations
– Requirement-oriented client-server communication
• Connectability
– Can be reached by any computer in the LAN/WAN (via COM/DCOM)

PAS and ST
z SICAM PAS already contains Firmware FBs
z These FBs can be used in your own FBs
z Interface-variables have their own datatype in PAS:
– PASDATABLOCK
– PASCOMMANDBLOCK
– PASGROUP
z These interface-types are structures with one element, a
pointer
z Interface-variables must have a constant value!!!

Engineering
The Engineering requires to configure the structure of the system,
which consists of Busses, Hubs, Switches, Routers, IEDs, Merging
Units ect.
The chosen topology determines the assignment to the primary process and
the physical redundancy of the system.

SICAM PAS
What is a Trace Function ?
• With a specified trace the PAS system creates a text file with detailed
internal data for a certain application.
• This function is mainly used to find out unidentified errors in the
parameterization as well as in the system software.
• The text file is usually sent to the customer support center to be evaluated
by system experts.
