However, once a wire has been sent, the process cannot be undone. For these reasons, fraudsters frequently use wires to carry out their scams. There are many scams that include the use of wire transmittal, but you can make sure that you don't fall prey to fraudsters by doing the following: + Be wary of any mention of lottery winnings, relative or friend expenses, government expenses, or cash and return payment schemes. - Always verify the wire information by contacting the recipient using confirmed contact information. For example, if you receive a phone call or an email from a relative requesting to have funds wired to them, contact that family member at a verified telephone number to confirm. - Never send funds to a person or entity that you do not personally know. Due to an increase in wire scams among our members, certain criteria in your request have elevated our concems. You are receiving this notice because you have requested to wire funds to a person, financial institution, or location that we have classified as potential fraud. In an effort to protect you and your funds, we ask that you seriously recon- sider your request.
