The Rationale of the Project/Facts: DARKNESS IN THE ABUNDANCE OF LIGHT This project is an integrated system for solar-powered lighting, utilizing the latest high-technology LED lamp of South Korea and with an interface of some basic component for eco-green renewable energy and free power from the Sun, which is unlimited in tropical countries like what we have here in the Philippines. In the present situation, it is a pathetic that until now, there are still so many barangays with no lighting despite the fact the LED and solar power technology are already readily available in the country. The irony of it all, remains in the fact that, in the abundance of sun power in trop- ical Philippines - an estimated 20,000 plus barangays are still condemned to suffer in darkness of the night. Only very few barangays have been reached by the electrification program, out of the 42,000 total number of registered barangays in the list of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). The dismal performance in the implementation of electrification program in all barangays could be the main cause of the problem. But on top of that, it is the lack of innovation, concerted efforts and focused-rural barangay development program that could be the main reason why the lighting program for remote barangays remains a great challenge today. This is the reason why the unique concept have been generated for the SIM-MA & ART: The INTEGRATED SYSTEM for MODERN LED SOLAR POWER LIGHTING with WIFI CONNECTIVITY via SATELLITE in EVERY BARANGAY, which is designed to provide solution to this problem in electrification as well as in communications from distant barangays. The Concept of the Project: THE FREE SUN POWER AND RENEWABLE ENERGY. il ‘The concept and program will involve the scientific development q ofan integrated “stand-alone-solar lamp post,” with state-of-the-art LED bright lamp technology that does not require traditional electricity.
