The Story of Rudolph

When Rudolph was born, he wasn’t like his brothers and sisters. He wasn’t

very fast or particularly strong. His brothers and sisters treated his unfairly

because he couldn’t keep up with them.

’Hurry up Rudolph or you won’t get any carrots!’ they would shout

whenever they played.

It wasn’t just his speed or strength that made him different from the

others. While everyone else had brown noses, Rudolph had a big, shiny,

red nose!

‘It is too easy to find you Rudolph.’ they would say whenever they played

Hide-and-Seek.

It was true that no matter what Rudolph did, he couldn’t stop his nose

from shining bright. ‘I just want to be normal’ thought Rudolph.

The day finally came when his brothers and sisters went to the North Pole

to work for Santa during the holidays. Rudolph had always dreamed of

one day working for Santa but worried that his nose would annoy him too

much.

During reindeer try outs Dasher, Prancer, Dancer and Vixen who were the

strongest reindeers , were put right in front of the sleigh to pull it easily.

Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen were the four fastest reindeers and

were put out front where they could go fast.

Rudolph was the last reindeer, standingalone in front of Santa looking

sad, he tried to hide his glowing nose from Santa.

The Story of Rudolph

’What are we going to do with you, Rudolph?’ Santa asked.

‘It’s true, I am not as strong or fast as the other reindeer but I will try my

best’ Rudolph said.

‘I know you will‘ said Santa ‘That’s why you will be at the very front of

everyone.’

All the other reindeers could not believe their ears. Rudolph was tiny.

Rudolph was not strong or fast. Why was he going to be leading them on

Christmas?

As Rudolph stood there looking confused Santa said ‘You see, flying a

sleigh is tough. You need strong reindeer. You need fast reindeer.’

‘Santa, I am neither. what use can I be?’ said Rudolph

’We deliver presents at night, when it is very dark. You have a special

talent that can help everyone’ explained Santa. ‘Your nose glows brightly

enough to guide my sleigh.’

And so on Christmas Eve, Rudolph stood proudly in front of Santa’s sleigh

with his 8 brothers and sisters. his nose glowing brightly to guide everyone

in the journey to deliver presents to boys and girls all around the world.

The Missing Nose

The North Pole was in a panic! It was the night before Christmas and all

through the house everyone was worrying, even the mouse.

As Rudolph and the rest of the reindeer were getting ready, Rudolph had

noticed that his red nose was missing! Without it he would not be able to

guide Santa’s sleigh.

Once word spread that Rudolph was missing his nose, everyone in the

North Pole began to frantically look for it. But after hours and hours no

nose had been found.

Looking glum, Rudolph went to tell Santa that he wouldn’t be able to

guide the sleigh this year.

`What`s wrong Rudolph?’ asked Santa.

`I am so sorry Santa but my nose is missing’ replied Rudolph`I won’t be

able to guide you tonight.’

Santa smiled. Rudolph looked at him with a confused expression.

`You’re not angry?` he stammered

`Of course not! I know where your nose is’ Santa replied with a chuckle.

Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a glowing red ball.

Rudolph cheered ` My nose! ‘

`I noticed it was a little dirty, so I took it for cleaning’ said Santa. He bent

over and gave Rudolph his nose.
