emrMobile – Mobile eHealth solutions for Smart Phones and Tablet devices

emrMobile solution helps Hospitals , Nursing homes and other Health Care agencies to directly deliver Electronic Medical / Health Records
(EMR / EHR) , Protected Health Information (PHI) and other data from Hospital Information Systems (HIS) to Mobile Computers, Tablet
devices (Tablet PCs and iPADs) and Smart Phones (such as Windows Mobile devices, BlackBerry devices, Google’s Android Phones,
Nokia Smart Phones and iPhones). These devices can be integrated with Biometric scanners, Barcode readers, RFID and Smart Card
readers having Bluetooth interface. emrMobile is a very versatile, powerful and highly secure platform and it can be easily deployed. This
solution helps to improve the quality of healthcare and reduce operational costs. Since emrMobile is supported on multiple Smart Phone
platforms, it provides very good flexibility to deliver the solution in the same devices that are currently used by Doctors, Nurses and other
healthcare personnel. emrMobile runs on a very advanced intelligent mobile application middleware framework called iMAF which permits
hundreds of mobile devices and smart phones to communicate with the server and deliver critical data in a highly secure and convenient way.
emrMobile supports both ONLINE and OFFLINE modes. iMAF supports PUSH type synchronization and messages are delivered in real time
to all authorized users. The system also supports the traditional query based data access.

System Overview:
emrMobile solution has a server side component, middleware
and mobile application. The server has HL7 integration engine
using which data from various HIS applications can be
accessed. The work flow logic, mobile collaboration and event
handling rules have to be defined in the server and iMAF engine
manages the workflow, processes the events and executes
data delivery to the mobile devices and smart phones in real
time using the PUSH mode. System uses very advanced
encryption techniques for data storage as well as data
transmission & reception between server and mobile devices.
Two factor or Three factor authentication could be used by using
Smart Cards based ID verification and biometric scanning in
addition username and password based validation. System has
a very powerful audit trail capability. When push messages are
delivered, users can directly review the information and take
necessary action. For on demand query of patient’s medical
records, the patient’s ID and other info could be manually
entered or automatically captured using barcode / RFID/ Smart
card readers. The patient’s medical records are only temporarily
stored in the device database.
System Admin configures users who are authorized to run this
application. Multiple levels of user categories and access
privileges are supported. Admin could modify access privileges
of any user in a granular way to grant extra privileges on a
temporary or permanent basis. System supports an easy to
use, flexible and powerful mobile collaboration tool with which
documents, images, text, audio and video contents could be
shared among multiple members in real time.
Salient features of emrMobile
emrMobile runs on Mobile computers, Smart Phones such as
Windows Mobile Phones/ Pocket PCs, BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry
Storm, Nokia, Android , iPhones, Tablet PCs and iPADs.
Peripherals such as Biometric scanners, Barcode readers, RFID
readers (HF and UHF) and Smart card readers with Bluetooth
interface could be used with mobile computers, smart phones and
tablet devices. Devices can communicate with the server using
WLAN (IEEE 802.11a/b/g) and WWAN networks (CDMA, GPRS,
EDGE, EvDO and HSDPA).
Devices can function in ONLINE and OFFLINE modes. Devices can
read and write RFID wristbands and Smart cards. Electronic
Medical Records and data from multiple HIS (Hospital Information
System) applications are delivered using PUSH technology. System
has features for configuring and implementing advanced mobile
collaboration functions between various users.
iMAF middleware platform is fully scalable. By clustering
deployment of iMAF on many servers, the system can handle
simultaneous communication with hundreds of devices at the same
time. HL 7 standards based integration support is available. System
can be easily customized and integrated with various HIS
applications that are used in Hospitals.
System is fully HIPAA and HITECH compliant and meets the
security and privacy regulations mandated by law. Two factor or
three factor authentication can be used by choosing appropriate
peripheral interfaces. Every activity / transaction is logged with the
User ID and date/time stamps.

emrMobile software solution:

The solution consists of a web based application, iMAF middleware and client software loaded on mobile / tablet devices and smart
phones. The server software is Java/J2EE compliant and can be deployed on servers running OS like Windows 2003, Linux and IBM AIX.
Application servers such as IBM WebSphere, Oracle, WebLogic and JBOSS are supported. iMAF takes care of bi-directional data
communication and Push Type Synchronization between server, mobile devices. The solution requires a local database and supports IBM
DB2, Oracle 10g, MySQL 5.1, SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, Sybase and others.
