Presentation of Islands of Peace (Iles de Paix) Islands of Peace (IDP) is a Belgian non-government and non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development worldwide. Currently Islands of Peace works in 6 countries: Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Peru, Uganda and Tanzania, Islands of Peace also conducts activities in Belgium such as advocacy and development education. Islands of Peace supports the emergence of sustainable food systems, that is, the promotion of systems of production, marketing and consumption of food which guarantee the right to food for all without compromising the economic, social and environmental foundations necessary for the food and nutritional security of the future generations. It also specifies that: & Islands of Peace supports in particular small family farmers, who are the most directly impacted by poverty and food insecurity; %& Islands of Peace adopts, in a comprehensive manner, the principles of agro ecology as a pathway leading towards a transition to sustainable food systems, considering that agro ecology is strongly linked to the concept of the right to food and produces proven results, particularly for vulnerable populations. To support this transition, IDP focuses on three interrelated strategies. Firstly, support small-scale farmers in enhancing, expanding, and diversifying their production through agroecological practices, aiming to improve resilience to climate change. Secondly, to support farmers in upgrading storage, processing, and marketing capacities, aligning with agroecological principles. This involves providing access to credit and creating local, green, and decent jobs. Lastly, IDP promotes a conducive environment for sustainable food systems by engaging in advocacy efforts, raising awareness among public and decision makers, and mobilizing consumers and authorities towards sustainable practices. In Tanzania, Islands of Peace has been established and officially recognized as an International NGO since 2015, actively engaged in implementing various projects in the Arusha Region. Notable programs include the Maisha Bora program (2015-2019), Kilimo Endelevu program (2017-2021), Kilimo Endelevu+ program (2020-2023), Kilimo Endelevu Arusha program (2022 — 2026), Kilimo Endelevu Arusha + program (2023 — 2026), and Maji kwa Chakula (2023-2024), Islands of Peace has developed close relationships with local, regional and national authorities but also with national and international civil society actors. In the frame of its programs’ implementation, Islands of Peace collaborates with IITA-Africa RISING, World Vegetable Center, ECHO East Africa, Farm Radio International, Trias, Rikolto and others. Islands of Peace is member of Tanzanian networks promoting sustainable agriculture and agroecology including Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM), Tanzanian Alliance for Biodiversity (TABIO) and Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM). IDP is also an active member of Arusha Collaborators for Agroecology Forum (ACAF) and the Arusha Sustainable Food Systems platform In its commitment to enhancing efficiency in promoting sustainable food systems through agroecology, Islands of Peace is currently recruiting for the following positions: 4. Project Coordinato: 2. Accounts Officer-1 Position 1: Project Coordinator Duty Station: Arusha with frequent trips to the intervention area (Arusha Rural and Karatu Districts) a. Financial Management of the project, that is to say to ensure the proper use and allocation of resources for project implementation. The coordinator with work closely with the Program Manager and Finance department to ensure proper and efficient utilisation of resources. Organizing with partners reporting schedule and consolidate the reports as per organisation guideline. b. Required Qual 1. Education and aptitude Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Agronomy, Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable Food Systems, Biodiversity, Natural Resources Management, Project Management, Nutrition or all related fields (Agroecology and Food systemswill be our center of focus); Demonstrated technical ability, sound judgment and ability to workeffectively with others at all levels; Excellent communication and presentation skills in Swahili and English; Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality and sustainable development; Computer skills particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; ll. Job related experience and knowledge At least three years of experience in coordinating project related to Agroecology / Sustainable Agriculture / Sustainable Food Systems projects, Good experience in projects management particularly working different actors eg. with farmers and farmer’ organizations, market agents and local development actors. Good experience of capacity building of farmers and farmer organizations; Experience working in rural setting; Experience with project monitoring and evaluation of agriculture related projects; P.0. Main Responsi ies: & Perform or assist in the performance of month-end closing activities to ensure accurate financial reporting, 4% Input General Ledger entries and journal vouchers as required, maintaining proper documentation. 4% Provide administrative support to the organization contributing to the smooth operation of office activities. & Contribute to the preparation of financial reports, ensuring adherence to established standards and timelines. %& Perform reconciliations of accounts (both income and expense) to identify and rectify discrepancies, ensuring financial accuracy. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers and relevant documentation. Ensure the monthly management of requests for funds. Ensure that procedures for the acquisition of goods and services are respected. Make sure that all the justifications for the use of all resources allocated to the various departments are in compliance with all prescribed requirements and transmitted in a timely manner. ™ de de de Required Qual 1. Education and aptitude ication 4% Degree or Diploma in Accounting/ Finance. 4% Proven experience of at least three years in managing accounts of donor funded project. Ps Excellent knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
