The company SVI SpA was founded in 1999 by the will of Mr. Sambuchi lvano and Mr.
History and Vannoni Mauro, current President and CEO, respectively, with the prerogative to develop a
perspectives company that would specialize in the construction of railway vehicles for infrastructure.
Since the beginning SVI SpA has introduced to the market as a company extremely
dynamic, proactive and innovative in terms of products with an excellent quality-price ratio,
factors that have proved decisive to success in the domestic market for what concern
railway vehicles with construction & maintenance of overhead electrical traction line
(catenary) attitude.
Over the years the SVI SpA activities have always been increasing and that may require the
acquisition of an external production site, equipped for the main production processes of SVI
SpA products, creating the MTI Srl characterized by the same SVI SpA corporate structure.
With this acquisition SVI SpA grew in terms of flexibility and responsiveness for the
execution of dedicated parts of the project, putting the company itself in a position to look
ahead with the awareness to be able to manage, with their own resources, the high volume
of work that the market, it was hoped, had offered in the following years.
In the early years SVI SpA has developed its business mainly on the local Italian business
because at that time that market take advantage of “positive” factors linked with government
funding for European high speed railway lines; in such a situation the rail lines activities
were assigned to private companies “immobilized" due to a previous stagnant period caused
by lack of investment which had produced an obsolete and fleet, deficient both in terms of
normative and by operational functionality point of view.

with high-performance products to the market with extremely competitive prices.

Starting from 2006, thanks to Italian Customers linked with world-class companies, who
purchased SVI SpA vehicles to work in Italy, then moved on several sites located around the
world, the "target" market of SVI SpA is inevitably raised helping to make known the quality
of its products to different companies operating in several worldwide countries. Hence the
acquisition of new Customers located around the Mediterranean Area, Eastern Europe, Latin
America, Maghreb Area that allows SVI SpA to be present today in many countries around
the world.
With the experience reached directly on the "field", seen the excellent feedback that SVI
SpA is receiving from their machines operating in the most extreme conditions and
especially with the “trust” that the several markets are returning to society, SVI SpA is a
candidate to be a reference point increasingly marked for what concern the whole segment
linked to the vehicles for infrastructure railway, which should go inevitably through new and
heavy investments by governments of various worldwide countries, to meet the demand for
an "interconnected world” achievable only through the adoption of an efficient transportation
systems, such as railway transportation, able to satisfy the expectations of the younger
worldwide generation by making them partners of the well know "global world".
Today SVI SpA is an industrial company, with around 60 employees (increasing on next
years..) and capable of producing railway vehicles useful for infrastructure, using all the
production process phases, starting from the development-design up to after-sales service.

Currently SVI S.p.A. operates in two separate sites that insist on a total area of 13,000m2 of
SVI Facilities which 4,200 m2 are covered. The Company has all the equipment needed to produce
internally its products, outsourcing only part of the work in order to balance of workload and,
in case, cost effectiveness.
The point in which SVI S.p.A. is today “defective” in order to increase production of vehicles,
the type of machines that the market demands and development relating to the maintenance
of the trains, is certainly the aspect of the production capacity & structure.
Aware of this situation SVI S.p.A. has acquired, in the year 2010, a building area of 182,000
m2 starting the construction of a new facility that will be completely dedicated for the
construction & maintenance of railway rolling stock. This area is located in a strategic
position in terms of logistics, bordering in one side with the A1 speedway and on the other
side with a regional rail joined together with national rail.
A key element, in addition to the large available area, will be undoubtedly the possibility, in
this area, to create an internal rail-circle that could join with the external rail network using a
few hundred meters of rail to connect with the neighboring train station of Lucignano (AR).
The first step will be to establish at least a structure-building of 16,000 m2 that will be
equipped with all necessary equipment for construction & maintenance of railway vehicles
and for then train maintenance as well.
The second step will be to create a second structure-building of 8,000 m2 in total that will be
characterized by a plant dedicated to the necessary R&S of new products and components
with also the possibility to make the relevant Training for Customer-STAFF.

The main area of SVI SpA activity is represented by special products for the construction
Products and maintenance of the railway line with particular attitude for the overhead electrical power
(catenary). Over the years SVI S.p.A. has developed and produced several customized
machines specific to each “stage” of both maintaining and construction of the railway,
creating and developing innovative solutions that are linked with the specific methods of
work in the railway sector.
These proven methodologies and related equipment were then exported to the world with
excellent results; clear example of such success is the "Italian Method", that consist to the
operative installation system of the catenary wires (wire - wire) for an overhead electrical
traction-line in railway infrastructure and which allows to make quickly and simultaneously all
the necessary phases of catenary-jobs.
The company attitude to innovate the proper know-how directly in the railway-field
operations has led the company to develop new products dedicated to the track and
signaling system, that would be the new business of SVI SpA in the next future.
In parallel with the construction of new railway vehicles, SVI SpA has grown more and more
the maintenance of generic rolling stock vehicles, made both by ourselves and by other
manufacturers but whose owners and users are our existing Customers (especially
concerning the RFI SpA fleet, which consist around of thousands machines to be maintained
in operation).
