Weeks 1-5 TPE_1

IMPORTANT: This work will be done in groups of 5.

Activity: "Navigating Academic Networking with Connectivism"

Objective: Students will collaboratively identify a subject that is challenging for most of
them, explore the barriers they face, and use principles of Connectivism to devise
strategies that enhance their understanding and listening skills within an online learning
context.

Phase 1: Identifying the Storm (Challenging Subject)

1. Synchronous Discussion: Have a live, online discussion where you discuss and
vote on a subject (e.g.: English Breakthough, Politicas Educativas y Sistemas
Educativos, etc) you collectively find difficult. You need to agree upon that.

2. Oral Reflection: Express your struggles with the chosen subject and why. Share
challenges you encounter in understanding and listening to related content online
during the session.

Phase 2: Mapping the Challenges and Importance

3. Writing: List all the challenges you identify in Phase 1.

Phase 3: Connectivism in Action

4. Research: Connectivism and its application to your situation.
a. Find online learning networks related to the subject.
b. Evaluate current personal learning networks and identifying gaps or
inefficiencies. Share that with your group.
c. Explore how listening skills can be enhanced through online platforms and
resources to understand the content about the subject.

Phase 4: Designing the Vessel (Strategy Development) + presentation.

5. Strategy Development: Identify strategies, online resources, networks, and
tools, based on Connectivism, to address the challenges you indicated to
understanding and improve listening skills in the chosen subject.
6. Oral Presentation (10 minutes total): Create an audio-visual presentation
(using tools like PowerPoint, Canva, Genially, or any other) to present your
findings and strategies without writing extensive text. Use graphic organizer and
images to beautify your work.

The presentation must contain:

a. Cover
b. Information about Phase 1
c. Information about Phase 2
