Delta – Wye Transformation

1. (a) Connect the circuit shown

(b) Turn on the power supply and slowly advance the variable output control knob
until the built-in power supply voltmeter indicates 90 Vdc (or closest).
(c) Measure and record the current and voltage.
Vt = ___________ Vdc
It = ___________ Adc
Return the voltage to zero and turn off the power supply
(d) Calculate the equivalent resistance of the circuit using the values obtained in c).
Equivalent Resistance, Req = Vt/It = _________Ω
(e) Disconnect the power supply and measure the total resistance of the circuit using your DMM.
Ohmmeter Reading, Req = __________Ω
(f) Using the indicated values of the resistors in the circuit, calculate the equivalent resistance.
Calculated Equivalent Resistance, Req = __________Ω

Is there a good agreement between the ohmmeter measurement of equivalent resistance,

your computed equivalent resistance of (d) and the circuit calculated equivalent
resistance of (f)? ______
2. Repeat all the procedures in number 1 considering the circuit shown
CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING
