PRE-STRESSED

CONCRETE
Prestressed concrete is a type of steel that is commonly used in construction. It is
heavily "prestressed" during manufacture to reinforce it against tensile pressures that
will occur in service. Prestressed concrete is a technique designed to create sufficient
precompression in the concrete beam by tensioned steel wires, cables, or rods that the
concrete has no tensile stresses or that the tensile stresses are so low that no visible
cracking develops under operating circumstances.

PRE-TENSION SYSTEM VS. POST TENSION SYSTEM

FLIXIBILITY / CONTROL FLIXIBILITY / CONTROL
Pre-tensioning is more suitable for uniform sections and repeating features such Pre-tensioning allows for more versatility in modifying the pre-stressing force
as precast columns and slabs since the pre-stressing force is established and after the building material has been formed; this process is especially
fixed when casting, leaving less room for modifications after the mix has cured. effective for constructions with irregular designs and fluctuating weights.

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

Steel strands or bars are tensed prior to the pouring of cement in pre-
tensioning. When the mix reaches a certain strength, the ligaments are
released, transmitting their prestressing force to the concrete.

SITE REQUIREMENTS
VS. Post tensioning process are strung through ducts and tensioned with
hydraulic jacks during post-tensioning. Ducts and conduits are installed
inside the building material when it has solidified to a particular point.

SITE REQUIREMENTS
Prestress concrete necessitates the use of concrete with a high compressive
strength at its earliest days and a comparatively higher tensile force than normal Post-tensioning is done on the jobsite in cast-in-place applications, as opposed to
cement. The members' concrete must be air-entrained concrete made of Portland pre-tensioning, which can only be done in a precast production plant. The
cement, fine and coarse aggregates, additives, and liquid. concrete component is cast with steel reinforcing strands that are inserted in such
a way that they do not bind with the concrete.

CONSTRUCTION BRIDGES

A precisely constructed prestressed-concrete beam may cover greater

lengths than a reinforced-concrete beam while being lighter and more
compact in weight, and using fewer materials.

Utilizing perforated steel cables with a lightweight working platform can

significantly reduce construction costs and materials. Optimizing work
methods and installing precast ribs and embedded forms on the top deck
slab can also reduce building duration and construction expenses.

The purpose of post-tensioning is to compress the concrete Pretensioning involves laying lengths of steel wire, cables, or cables

tensioning produces a compressive stress on the material, concrete has been poured and allowed to cure, the anchors are
