~~~~~~~~ SteamDeck Texture Pack Installation Instructions: ~~~~~~~~
>>>>>>> All this needs to be done on Steam Deck's desktop mode <<<<<<<
===== How to install 3DS texture packs on the Steam Deck: =====
0. Install the Citra emulator on your SteamDeck, this guide provides instructions
for Citra installed through Emudeck.
1: Download the textures of your choice from Henriko Magnifico's website. (I
personally recommend the 1080p version of the mod as the Steam Deck does not have a
4K screen, but if you have a dock and 4K monitor, then probably get the 4K version)
2: Once you have unzipped the textures head to this file path from his folder.
(texture mod name) > user > load > textures > (there will be 3 numbered paths,
choose the one of the 3 that has actual textures you can view)
3: Open Citra emulator, click on the emulation tab, then the configure option.
Click on Graphics, on the utility tab on the bottom, make sure the checkboxes of
"Use Custom Textures" and "Preload Custom Textures" is turned on. Close out of
these boxes.
4: Right click the game you are modifying, and select "Open Custom Texture
Location" (NOTE: If nothing happens, restart your Steam Deck, this is a common
annoying error. Upon restart just try again and it should take you to the custom
texture folder)
5: When on the folder, simply drag and drop the textures from the file path you
opened earlier and you're done! I also recommend setting your internal resolution
to x6, it looks really nice.
>>> PLEASE NOTE:
!!! There's currently an annoying bug with Citra that once you enable custom
textures, you will be unable to boot games up via SteamOS in gaming mode. Currently
the only way to open them is via Citra itself. This will hopefully be fixed in a
future update. !!!
===== How to install GameCube/Wii texture packs on the Steam Deck: =====
Steps 1 & 2 are the same as the 3DS/Citra emulator steps above, please refer to
them, only change is there will not be 3 numbered paths, just 1.
3: Open Dolphin Emulator, hover over the game you are modifying and select
properties. Scroll over to the info tab. What we're taking from this page is the
information listed under "GameID." Take note of what the 6 character GameID is.
4: Go to the following file path on your Steam Deck.
Home > .var > app > org.DolphinEmu.dolphin-emu > data > dolphin-emu > Load >
Textures
5: Once here create a folder titled the 6 character GameID you took note of in Step
3.
6: Open the folder you created and drag and drop the textures from the file path
you opened in Step 2 and you're all done! The resolution I recommend this time is
x2 Native.
That's it!
