Drucker suggests a process of self-management focused on figuring out where one belongs.

In order to figure out where you belong, he says you have to identify your strengths (by
doing a feedback analysis), figure out how you work, and know your values.
What do these processes mean to you?
Do you agree with Drucker’s process?

In my opinion, it is crucial for us to understand ourselves, understand our own strengths, our own
values, and how we can perform best. Whenever we make a major decision or take a major
action, we may write down what is expected to happen, and after some time (maybe several
months later), we can compare the actual results to our expectations. This simple method can
show us our strengths and weaknesses in a relatively short period of time. The feedback analysis
gives us the motivation for action. First, we can discover and focus on our strengths. Second, we
can constantly improve our strengths and acquire new skills. Third, we can discover our
weakness and overcome them.
In fact, there are many ways to learn and acquire new knowledge. We should learn in a way that
we are good at and comfortable with in order to have the best output. In addition, we need to
know whether we are the person who can work with others or a “loner ranger”. If we try to
change ourselves, it will require much greater effort and the success rate might not be high. I
believe the efforts should be focus on improving our learning and performance.
To understand our own values, this is a question of “mirror inspection”. If our values conflict
with the values of an organization, we might either suffer setbacks or do nothing. Hence, we
need have clear communication with management team on expectation and understand well on
organization values, a perfect match between organization values with our own values will
enable us to perform our tasks effectively.
Quoted by Ducker- “Success in the knowledge economy comes to those who know themselves –
their strengths, their values, and how they best perform.”
