ACTIVITY NO 2 - ELEMENTS OF PSYCHE

1. Analyze your SELF in terms of the three (3) elements or composition of the
psyche according to Plato. Identify and describe some of your behaviors, things
that you do or experiences that would represent the 3 elements - appetitive,
spirited and the mind.
(NOTE: one paragraph for EACH element - 15 points)
- In terms of the appettitive element, I relax by watching movies or browsing
the internet for hilarious content. I also occasionally play online games by myself or
sometimes with my friends. I also go for nighttime walks. I converse with my family
and friends as well. When I am with or when I speak with someone I know, it provides
me the comfort I need.

My behaviors and experiences with the spirited element are when it's Saturday
and I'm so eager to get home that I'm willing to stand or board a big bus such as
Partas in order to get there. I also do my activities, plates, and homework at those
times and the approaching deadline makes me so determined to complete the task, to
finish my plate, or my schoolwork. Sometimes I work so late that I don't even get
enough sleep.

For the mind element, it usually works all the time because we humans don’t
stop thinking. I always make a decision about what to do after work. When I complete
tasks like homework or plates, the mind element also functions. One instance I have is
on a Saturday when I debate going home because I'm staying at a boarding house.
Even though I really miss my family, I usually don't go home when I have a lot of
things to finish and instead stay in the boarding house

2. How are you able to balance the three elements in your daily life? (5 points)
- Balancing the three elements which is the appetitive, spirited, and mind
element is something like which do I want to prioritize. For example, prioritizing needs
over desires. Prioritizing mind over heart. It is the matter of prioritizing what comes
first, and what comes next. We have different priorities, it’s just up to us which do we
want to do first.

3. According to St. Augustine, man's end goal is ultimate happiness. At this

point in your life, are you happy? Why or why not? (5 points)
- Yes I am happy at this point in my life because I have a caring and loving
family, trustworthy and helpful friends. I also experienced many things, such as joy,
love, sadness, fear, and many more. Sometimes with my friends and family,
sometimes alone. It is said that happiness is something that multiplies when it is
divided. It means like the saying “The more, the merrier”. Happiness is not something
that happens to you. It is something you have to choose and right now, I chose to be
happy and you can too, you can be happy in your own way.
