LAW OF TORTS 1 (LAW435)

GROUP ASSIGNMENT QUESTION (10%)

Sally and Zeti shared an apartment at Villa Mumi, Section 13 Shah Alam. The apartment
was owned by Zeti. Since moving in together, Sally and Zeti did not get along. Last April,
after a huge fight, Zeti asked Sally to vacate the apartment. Sally packed her things and
immediately left the apartment.

A week after moving out, Sally realised that her expensive Nikon camera was missing.
She remembered lending the camera to Zeti for her holiday in Cameron Highlands two
months ago. Sally immediately called Zeti to ask for the camera back, but Zeti refused to
return it. Sally then decided to take back the camera.

One day, knowing that Zeti was away at work, Sally went to the apartment to look for the
camera. She entered the apartment using her old keys which she had forgotten to return
to Zeti. After searching through Zeti's bedroom drawers, she found her camera. She also
found Zeti's personal diary on her bedside table. Out of spite, Sally decided to hide the
diary behind a cupboard. Sally then left the apartment with her camera. On the way out,
Sally threw the keys into the garbage bin outside the apartment block.

Based on relevant authorities, advise Zeti on her rights and liabilities.
