Show that the following functions are analytic and hence find its derivative

2. Test the analyticity of the function𝑓(𝑧) = 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑧. If analytic, find it’s derivative.
3. Show that the real and imaginary part of the function 𝑙𝑜𝑔 𝑧 satisfy the Cauchy-Riemann equations, when z is not
zero.
4. Determine the analytic function
(i) whose real part is x − 3xy + 3x − 3y + 1
(ii)whose real part is log (x + y )
(iii) whose imaginary part is e [x sin y + y cos y]
5. Let f(z) = u + iv is analytic then find f(z) in terms of z , if
(i) u + v = x − y + 3x y − 3xy
(ii)u − v = e (cosy − siny)
6. Show that the function u = e sin(x − y ) is harmonic. Find the conjugate function v and express u + iv as
an analytic function of z.

7. Show that 𝑢 = x − 3xy + 3x − 3y + 1 is harmonic. Find the conjugate function v and express u + iv as an
analytic function of z.
8. If the potential function is log (𝑥 + 𝑦 ), find the flux function and the complex potential function.
9. Show that u = e (xcosy − ysiny) is harmonic and find its harmonic conjugate. Also determine the corresponding
analytic function.
