DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

The following experiments will be included in the II PUC

Revision, Preparatory and Annual
Practical Exams Jan / Feb – 2024
1. Determination of resistance of a given wire using Ohm’s law and hence to find
resistivity of the material of the wire.
(Given: Radius of the experimental wire, r = ____________ m, Length of the
experimental wire, L = __________ m) (taking 3 trails)

2. Determine the resistance per unit length of a given wire by plotting a graph of
potential difference versus current. (taking 6 trails)
(Given : Length of the wire L = ___________ m)

3. Determine the resistance of a galvanometer, by half deflection method and find its
figure of merit. Given: E = V. (taking 3 trails)

4. Conversion of galvanometer into voltmeter.

(Given : Figure of merit of galvanometer, K = _____ Adiv -1,
Resistance of galvanometer G = ______  , Given V = 3 volts.
Range of conversion 0 – 3 Volts (V = 3 V)) (taking 3 trails)

5. To determine the frequency of an alternating current using a sonometer and

an electromagnet. Given: m = ________ kg / m.

6. Determine the focal length of concave mirror using optical bench by parallax method.
(taking 3 trails)

7. Determine the focal length of convex lens by plotting a graph of u versus V using
optical bench by parallax method. (taking 6 trails)

8. Find the refractive index of water by using concave mirror. (taking 1 trail)

9. Find the refractive index of water by using plane mirror and convex lens.
(taking 1 trail)

10. Draw I – V characteristic curve of a p – n junction in forward bias and find cut – in
voltage. Taking trials up to cut in voltage at least 6 trails.
The students are asked to prepare for the above said experiments.
