2. The Forest Conservation

(Amendment) Bill, 2023 was

29, 2023. The Bill amends the
Forest Conservation Act, 1980 to
make it applicable to certain types

3. The Coastal Aquaculture

Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023
was introduced in Lok Sabha on
April 5, 2023. The Bill amends the
Coastal Aquaculture Authority Act,
2005. The Act defines coastal
aquaculture as farming, under
controlled conditions, of: (i)
shrimp, (ii) prawn, (iii) fish or (iv)
any other aquatic life in saline or
brackish water. The Bill expands
the scope of coastal aquaculture
to include allied activities such as
hatcheries and nucleus breeding
centres.

3. तटीय जलीय कृषि प्राधिकरण

(संशोधन) विधेयक, 2023 5 अप्रैल,

था। विधेयक तटीय जलीय कृषि

4. The Cinematograph
(Amendment) Bill, 2023 was
introduced in Rajya Sabha on July

5. The National Dental

Commission Bill, 2023 was
introduced in Lok Sabha on July
24, 2023. The Bill repeals the
Dentists Act, 1948 and
constitutes: (i) the National Dental
Commission, (ii) the Dental
Advisory Council and (iii) three
autonomous Boards for regulating
dental education and standards of
dentistry.

8. The Registration of Births and

Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2023
seeks to amend the 1969 Act. It
was introduced in Lok Sabha on
July 26, 2023. The Registration of
Births and Deaths Act, 1969
provides for the regulation and
registration of births and deaths.
As of 2019, the national level of
registration of births was 93% and
death registration was at 92%.

11. The Indian Institute of

Management (Amendment) Bill,
2023 was introduced in Lok
Sabha on July 28, 2023. The Bill

Management Act, 2017. The Act
declares Indian Institutes of
Management (IIMs) as institutes
of national importance and
regulates their functioning. IIMs

Delhi, Principal Home Secretary of
Delhi. The Authority will make
recommendations to the
Lieutenant Governor (LG)

processing of digital personal data

amends the Pharmacy Act, 1948.

total number of seats in Lok
Sabha and state legislative
assemblies for women.

20. The Central Universities

(Amendment) Bill, 2023 was

23. The Provisional Collection of

Taxes Bill, 2023 was introduced in
Lok Sabha on December 13,
2023. The Bill repeals the
Provisional Collection of Taxes

Act, 1931. The Act provides for

the interim imposition or increase
of customs or excise duty. The Bill
retains all the provisions under the
Act.

seeks to replace the Indian

Telegraph Act, 1885 and the

Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act,
1933. While the purpose of the Bill
was to update the extant
regulatory framework in keeping
with modern-day advancements
and challenges in the telecom
sector, its ambit also raises
