Reflect on the following questions based on the previous discussions or you may do some research
for further insights and write how you feel about them. *(max. of 300-words only for the entire paper)

1. Do you believe that the Philippines is really a collectivist society?

✓ I believe that the Philippines is a collectivist society because Filipinos always want the best
for the community or the group over the needs and desires which commonly sees in
Filipino families. Filipino families are relatively close that some of them will sacrifice their
happiness for the greater good of their family.

2. How does this shape/impact our idea of self?

✓ Collectivist society shapes or impacts our idea of self because it shows the importance of
the community. This society values the harmony and interdependence of group members.
It teaches people how to be selfless since you do not make decisions if it leads to the
disappointment of others. It ensures and considers the needs, feelings, well-being to
protect.

3. How can I handle this stigma that it creates within my society and me?

✓ The things I will do so I handle the stigma it creates within my society and me is by
not letting the stigma create self-doubt and indignity. I will also educate myself
about the stigma and how it affects people because I want to help them gain their
self-esteem and overcome self-judgment. I want people to think and realize that
they can still achieve their individual goals and it is normal to be afraid of change.
