SUNPHOS (N) 190

Acidic etchant for aluminium and its alloys
SUNPHOS (N) 190 is a balanced formulation for selective etching of aluminium and its alloys prior to
chromatizing or liquid painting. It gves a micro-etched surface which gives excellent paint bonding.

PROCESS SEQUENCE :
1. Dipping in SUNPHOS (N) 190 Solution
2. Water rinse
3. Drying
4. Chromatizing/painting

OPERATING PARAMETERS :
SUNPHOS (N) 109 : 40 - 70 ml/L
Temperature : Ambient
Time of dipping : 2 min to 5 min

BATH MAKE UP AND MAINTENANCE : FILL half of the tank with water, add required quantity of
SUNPHOS (N) 190. Mix well and start processing.
A 60 ml/ litre fresh bath solution will have a total acid polntage of 44. For each polnt below 44, 136 ml of
SUNPHOS (N) 190 should be added for a 100 litre bath.

POINTAGE DETERMINATION : Pipette out 10 ml of bath solution into a conival flask. Add 2 to 4 drops
of phenolphthalein solution and titrate with 0.1N Sodium hydroxide solution to a plnk end point.

Each ml of 0.1N sodium hydroxide required represent 1 polnt.

DISPOSAL : The waste is weekly acidic and may be neutralised in the effluent treatment plant by using
degreasing waste or soda ash or caustic soda. After neutralising, the supernatent liquid may be
discharged while the sludge may be dumped under ground.

SAFETY : Approns, gloves, goggles and boots should be used while handling the products. Splashes on
the skin should be washed-off with water. In case of splashing into the eyes, flush it out with water and
obtain medical attention.

BEST BEFORE END : 1 year from month of manufacturing.
