Why animal production is important?

• 1. Food Security:Animal production ensures a steady


supply of protein and essential nutrients, addressing
global food security challenges.

• 2. Sustainable Farming:Livestock contribute to


sustainable agriculture by providing natural
fertilizers, reducing reliance on synthetic inputs, and
participating in integrated farming systems.

• 3. Economic Impact:Animal husbandry generates


income for farmers through the sale of meat, dairy,
and by-products, enhancing livelihoods and
supporting rural economies.
De nition of animal production

• Animal production involves the generation of items


derived from animals, including eggs, milk, meat,
and various dairy products.

• Intervention refers to a deliberate action with the


potential to in uence smallholder livestock
production, aiming to bring bene ts to individuals
involved in the process.

Objectives of animal production interventions

• 1. Food Security:Animal production ensures a

Recommendations suggested to the farmers -

• 1. Vaccination Awareness:Collaboratively raised awareness among farmers


about the signi cance of vaccinating livestock. Emphasized the crucial role
of vaccination in preventing harmful diseases in animals.

• 2. Hygienic Practices:Highlighted the necessity of regular cleaning of the


shelter. Emphasized the importance of practicing good hygiene for the well-
being of livestock.

• 3. Diet Maintenance:Stressed the collective responsibility in ensuring the


proper dietary maintenance of livestock.

• 4. Isolation of Sick Animals: Advocated for the isolation of sick animals as a


necessary practice for disease control and prevention.
