Jan22 Design1 Project 3 Brief
Jan22 Design1 Project 3 Brief
With the current pandemic and the emphasis on social distancing, your
final project must be able to address this crucial outcome thus making it
“safe” and design viable for the community.
A proposed 6 (six) meter aka 20feet container will be used to create portable
and transportable space at a designated location. By researching and
observing the surrounding activities/current pandemic within your vicinity,
you can :
1.1 Identify and develop a practical space using the 6 meter/20 feet
container to enhance the “safe” surrounding environment.
1.2 The box up container will be “Open” or “Free Up” design using your
selected primary geometry to further develop the design of your MY
COVID MARKET SPACE.
1.3 The space create can have dual functional spaces for both customer
and seller having a safe social distancing to interact and transact yet
adhered to the pandemic guidelines.
1.4 The functional space must be ergonomics friendly for the buyers and
seller.
2.1 Each individual is assigned into a group of five (5) whereby a primary
trades is selected for the group.
2.2 Each student is to research and explore their early translating and
transforming of the overall geometry form becoming a practical
architectural space that best suits the surrounding area chosen.
2.3 Within the group you must choose a well-known architect and review
his or her design philosophies.
2.4 Select a particular project done by the architect’s and incorporate his
or her design philosophies into your design.
2.5 Your overall design “My Covid Market Space” must incorporated
both your project 1 & project 2 as part of the overall final design.
3.0 Objective :
3.1 Using 6 meter or 20 feet container to transform the geometry forms
and shapes into a functional space that is practical and aesthetically
pleasing.
3.2 Understand the concept of ergonomic, scale & proportion.
3.3 Transformation with reference to project 1and project 2 design mantra
to create 3D multi-functional space.
3.4 Analysis of ergonomics, movement and functional space from the
geometric form and shapes with reference to project 2.
3.5 Ability to understand the current covid19 pandemic in realizing a
complete design entity for your own space.
4.1. Identify the various types of trades that are available at the
marketplace. The difference between the “Wet” and “Dry” trade.
4.2 Discussion among the sub group members ensuring an overall and
sub theme to be chosen for this final project.
4.3 Carry out further detailed research about the theme within the local
context/current pandemic and understand the existing situation in
terms of people movement and limitations.
4.4 Study the design intent spaces it encompasses and explore your
overall architectural geometry relating to your chosen site.
4.6 With reference to Item 2.4 each sub group must choose three (3)
architects philosophies for their members to select in formulation of
their individual design synthesis.
5.0 Material
5.1 Students are encourage to use sustainable and recycle materials as
much as possible.
6.0 Site
6.2 The location is next to KB Block open public car park Jalan ….
7.0 Requirements :
7.1 From your previous project, combine both the design “mantras” from
Project 1 and Project2 and select segment of the transformation into 3
dimensional living spaces. The proposed architectural space must be
an idealistic space best suited for the area you have chosen.
7.4 The space must have the combination of the three (3) requirements as
highlighted in Item 2.0 The area shall be no more than 2m x2m
x2m in height which is portable and collapsible.
7.5 Let your creative works speak for itself through your concise
drawings together with A3 square base model with height not more
than two time of its base size.
7.6 The design must able to capture the overall theme essence using your
Geometry, Architects’ Philosophies and Design Mantra that able
to touches the soul.
