Calling for applications! MASW would like to invite interested and qualified
individuals to apply for the position of an Executive Director.

Vacancy: Executive Director MASW

The Malaysian Association of Social Workers (MASW) is a national organisation that


represents and promotes the interests of social workers in Malaysia. MASW aims to
enhance the quality and standards of social work practice, advocate for social justice
and human rights, and foster professional development and networking among social
workers.

MASW is seeking a full-time Executive Director who will lead and manage the
organisation’s operations and programs in accordance with its vision and mission. The
Executive Director will report to the MASW Executive Committee and work closely
with other staff, members, partners, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
• Collaborating with the MASW Executive Committee to develop and execute
strategic plans and annual budgets, and monitor and evaluate the organisation’s
performance and impact.
• Providing leadership and strategic direction in line with the vision and mission,
and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including
relevant legislations such as the Social Work Profession Bill.
• Leading and inspiring a dedicated team of MASW in parliamentary engagements
and advocacy efforts in relation to the Social Work Profession Bill and other
relevant issues.
• Overseeing and supporting the planning, implementation, and reporting of the
organisation’s programs and projects, and ensure they align with the
organisation’s goals and objectives.
• Managing and supervising the organisation’s staff and volunteers, and provide
leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
• Representing the organisation to the public, media, government, and other
stakeholders, and raise the visibility and credibility of the organisation and the
social work profession.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with local and international
organisations, donors, sponsors, and other supporters.

• Fundraising - To support MASW Executive Committee in mobilizing resources


both from public and private sector donors to support the MASW mission, as
well as developing and implementing fundraising strategies to ensure financial
sustainability.

Requirements and skills


• A degree in social work or a related field (social science/human
development/human rights), or equivalent work experience in an NGO focused
on social work/humanitarian work.
• At least 5 years of proven work experience in a senior management or leadership
role in a non-profit organisation or similar setting.
• Experience and knowledge of parliamentary engagements, stakeholder
engagement, and advocacy on social work and related issues.
• Experience in conducting and writing research reports.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and
strategic plans, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Experience and knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and fundraising
in a non-profit context.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and ability to
work with diverse groups of people.
• Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills, and ability to work
independently and as part of a team.
• Exceptional communication and writing skills in English and Malay. Proficiency
in Tamil and Mandarin is an asset.
• Passionate and committed to the vision and mission of MASW and the social
work profession.
• Relevant training and/or certifications as a non-profit Executive Director are
desirable.
• Knowledge and experience in programme management, fundraising, donor
management and collaborations.
