Since NEP 2020 inbox is shown in Indian education system to usher in new perspective of

conferring the students with handsome learning on technical knowledge even prior to their
distinction of being school graduates as automobile engineering was integrated into the
CBSE curriculum as automotive skill curriculum. The idea was to prepare this huge human
resource that the country India possesses Can be enlightened with knowledge so that they
can earn their livelihood since tinder ages.
Automotive Skill Curriculum started the journey as a skill subject in CBSE in the academic
year 2023-24, in the first piloting year 25 JNVs across India were chosen and Jawahar
Navodaya Vidyalaya Bankura was one of them.

INTRODUCTION:
Automotive Skilling Program at JNV Bankura is equipped with a Laboratory Set up of its own
& also houses demonstration models of Vehicle Engine, Gearbox, Electrical System Lay out,
Steering System, and a Front Axle. A diverse range of Special Basic Tools are also kept at Lab
surveillance to accommodate its students with best possible workshop akin exposure.
In this academic year as part of Skill Course curriculum an Industrial Exposure Visit was in
proposition. This visit was supposed to facilitate the students under this skill curriculum to
experience real life Workshop Ambience & Working Procedures, Job Role Demographics etc.
On behalf of JNV Bankura all of the students of Board Classes (Number of Participants were
32) participated in the aforementioned Industrial Exposure Visit.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT:
On 18th October, 2023; 32 students under the tutelage of Three Teachers commenced a
journey towards Rupnarayanpur, Kharagpur (132 KMs from JNV Bankura), destination was
Krishna Car Service- TATA Motors Car Workshop). These students were expected to rub
shoulders with Expert Workshop Personnels at the Service & Sales Outlets so as to gain an
experience they have never had before.
On the Day / October 18th, 2023

SERVICE OUTLET:
1. We were first conferred with the access to the Service Outlet. As the Industrial Exposure
Visit coincided with a working day at the workshop, we were fortunate enough to
experience a busy though normal day at the workshop & how to conduct the workshop
timetables & schedules as an easy flowing conduit. Technical & management skill astute
to learn from the professionals working at there. Some of the activities caught our
special attention were, engine overhauling, wheel change, software repair with TDS &
OBD2 scanner, wheel alignment & balancing & also wheel rotation to name a few.
2. We were separated into two groups & along with these groups & a designated
Engineer- Trainer, we visited different sections of that workshop. We had a lot of queries
& our thirst for knowledge was drenched by the expert engineers until those answers
were satiable enough, workshop personnels had to show a lot of patience & we as part
of the visiting team were quite gratified & appeased.
3. The service outlet exposure reached its culmination during afternoon hours. Beyond
that tenure a break was taken in between before we embarked our journey towards the
sales outlet situated a kilometre further.
SALES OUTLET:

1. The Sales Outlet, as it is supposed to be is quite contrasting to the Service Workshop

ambience. Sales Outlets are designed as to fetch attention from customers & from the
dress code to the ethical behaviour of the staffs & the sound management skill often
displayed in a subtle way was quite intriguing to learn from especially for those
students who were from Class 10th as their Automotive Skill Curriculum is sprayed over
on this aspect of them being potent enough to conduct such behavioural proficiency &
to mix with technical knowledge & decision making, making them ready to earn wages
from early ages.

2. The ASC curriculum of the Class 12th is based upon quite different perspective where
students’ graduating after Class 12th are supposed to be more technically astute to
potentially land a job opportunity in Automotive Workshops, starting from the Job Role
of a Technician & may further proceed to higher ranks even depending how well they
perform.
3. On that regards sales outlet of Krisnaa Car- TATA Motors was quite well equipped with a
ambient showroom with a lot of glass area, space to display diverse type of cars on sell
in the concurrent time in TATA Motors India line up, Spaces for refreshment for the
customers, a section to address queries & grievances, suggestions from the customers
etc.

4. The vehicles those were on display were demonstrated as to make us aware of the
features & modern technologies those cars were equipped with, from the diverse
segment of cars including Compact Hatchback like Tata Tigor, Compact Sedan like Tigor,
Sub 4 metre SUVS including Tata Punch, Nexon, Nexon EV, Full size SUVs including
Harrier & Safari from the range of TML & an experienced sales personnels
demonstrated all the aspects of the sales departments including the back office work
schedules, Tele calling, sales plans etc to the participants.
5. At the stroke of 5:30 in the evening we completed the activities scheduled with in and
a TATA LPO 712 Bus was ready to embark a journey towards our Vidyalaya.
How knowledge from such a visit be revised in
classrooms afterwards:

Several learning aspects of a visit are already integrated at the Automotive 404 & 804
curriculums & now with the availability of TATA Motors extreme engineering & cut
sections at the disposal of JNVs at their Automotive Skill Labs it would not be an issue to
revise such learnings at the JNV classroom or Lab afterwards. Documentation with
Images & Videos are also advised for future references.

A. Demonstration of Oil Change along with photos & Videos from the training during
Lab Classes. A PPT representation would make it more convenient for students to
perceive in future.
B. Demonstration of Filter Changes. Air or Fuel filters in Lab Classes.
C. Safety measurements carried out at the workshop may influence, Lab Class
demeanours of the students in future.
D. Networking & Knowledge integration. A service station may accommodate several
job roles that students of these curriculums can choose as a future earning prospect.
Visual representations would be a great way to keep them motivated in future, as
real-life exposure is assumed to be more influential than Classroom studies.
E. Tools & Equipments, used by the professionals at the workshop may be integrated in
future Lab Classes, on how to handle those tools & with safety concerns in mind.

➢ An industrial visit, can offer numerous benefits to

students:
1. Practical Application of Classroom Learning
2. Exposure to Industry Processes
3. Learning About Technology and Innovation
4. Understanding Career Opportunities
5. Soft Skills Development; there would be several noteworthy benefits
only to be strengthening the students in participation.
