SAVERUS

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
Many people in the world need the help we provide. We ‘joyful souls’
cooperation’ seek not only to help people in need around Sri Lanka
financially but to strengthen minds and make sure little souls live with
peaceful healthy and happy minds. Our next outstanding mission will
be targeted at young cancer patients ranging from the age of 18. This
event will target better mental health for the children of the National
Cancer Hospital of Sri Lanka. Collaborating with the nationwide
recognized CCChouse foundation this campaign will surely be a massive
success to mark our foundation’s work history.
Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide without control and
can invade nearby tissues. Cancer cells can also spread to other parts of
the body through the blood and lymph systems. In Sri Lanka, around
750 children are newly diagnosed with cancer every year; almost all of
these children are treated at the pediatric department of the National
Cancer Institute, Sri Lanka. CCChouse is a 188-bed transit home for
cancer outpatients and their caregivers. It is situated inside the
premises of the Cancer Institute and allows outpatients easy access to
their treatment. CCChouse provides a safe and comfortable
environment to ensure outpatients have a fighting chance for a speedy
recovery.
b Our foundation, as I mentioned earlier focuses on the much-
neglected aspect of child health. A child’s mental health stability is just
as important as physical health. Being mentally healthy during
childhood means reaching developmental and emotional milestones,
learning healthy social skills, and coping with problems. Mentally
healthy children have a positive quality of life and can function well at
home, in school, and their communities.
We have decided to host a fundraising walkathon around the
Independent Square in Colombo. Your participation would greatly
support our campaign ‘Save the mind’. It will be held on the 25 th of
August 2023. Registrations are open for all priced at the range of
Rs.1500 onwards. There is no age limit or restriction. Join us this
Saturday with all your friends and family. This event shall be done in
splendid glamour with music, fun stalls, and much more…This will be
one of the biggest public events of the year with a splendid carnival
that will follow. For more details visit our official website
www.SLjoyfulsouls.lk. Be sure to join us for the entire day! This would
be a chance to meet old friends and gather together as a family. Have
fun with your siblings or an exciting date for young couples!
The money we collect shall be used for more of our missions around
the country ranging from physically abused children, disabled children,
children with heavy family issues, and depression. which would be a
massive support to our campaign as well. We also arranged for child
counselors and therapists to work in the hospitals whose salaries would
be paid monthly by our foundation. Emotional stress, uncertainty, and
physical pain can all take a toll on an individual's mental health. This is
especially true for cancer patients. From processing the news of a
cancer diagnosis to navigating the plan of care, cancer patients need to
focus on both the body and the mind. Taking their mental health into
our hands we hope the ‘Joyful Souls Foundation’ will be able to make
these dreams a reality. The goal and environment we hope to achieve
and create is an environment where cancer patients can let out their
anxiety and feelings to people who would try and encourage them to
lead a healthy life free of mental stress.
Sri Lanka has never shown the biggest interest in mental health. On the
8th of December 2021, the UNICEF of Sri Lanka marked its 75th
Anniversary and the Convention on the Rights of the Child by hosting a
panel discussion titled ‘Reimagine a future for every child. Unlocking
attention to Mental Health, Jathujan Mahendran a 20-year-old cancer
patient from Batticaloa, connected with his personal experience related
to suicide. “We must remove the stigma, ignorance, and limited
awareness of mental health. For children everywhere, Lack of access to
treatment, including counseling services in schools, limited support
systems, and qualified professionals for mental health has highlighted
how vulnerable children and young people are.”
Joyful souls intend to put an end to this ignorance. Support our mission
by volunteering to help our foundation and joining us for our mind-
blowing event that would support our cause of creating a stress-free
environment for cancer patients island-wide. Please, contact my
secretary Mr. Alawa Herat 0772858612. Or email us at
