NARRATIVE REPORT ON READING FESTIVAL

Francis Bacon said, “Reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man,
and writing an exact man.” The reading festival has been a highly anticipated event
by the students especially the book enthusiasts as it showcases various literary
works and challenges the intellectual capacity of its attendees. In connection, the
Bentahon Integrated School – Junior High School was able to adapt the programs
presented by the Division of Agusan del Sur and one of it is the Reading Festival.
On May 24, 2023, students got excited with the activities that the teachers
prepared just like Spelling Bee, Quiz Bee, and Scrabble. In the morning was the
activity proper and in the afternoon as the awarding of winners. In this activity, all the
students were divided into three teams and had a representative from each team.
During the spelling bee, the spelling prowess of the students was tested.
During the contest, students were asked to spell out in three different rounds - easy,
average, and difficult. There is no elimination round and the highest scorer was
declared as the winner.
In the Quiz Bowl, the broad knowledge of the students about literature was
measured. The participants were asked series of questions on various topics such
as authors, genres, and literary movements. The team who got the highest score
was declared the winner. This Quiz Bowl, gave an excellent opportunity for book
lovers to showcase their knowledge and share their enthusiasm for literature.
Also, the last contest was Scrabble. This competition widened students’
vocabulary, strategy, and critical thinking skills. During the contest, it was seen in
students faces the fun yet nervous emotions. The team who got the highest score
was declared as the winner.
To conclude, the different activities implemented have provided a fun and
challenging way to improve one’s vocabulary and literary knowledge. The event was
ended successfully.
